One point I think we should make though, is the Panthers front 7 is one of the smallest in the league if not the smallest and their by far best front 7 player did not play. If our OL did not push them around like they did, it would be cause for a good deal of concern.

Well, at least we got to see what Henne & Co look like *when* the blocking is good.

Henne is finally showing he doesn't need handcuffs

I feel like the most important stat for Henne is no picks. There are plenty of playmakers on this team and it's apparent Daboll understands how to challenge a defense horizontally and vertically. Henne just needs to manage the game.

They are committed to pushing the football now. Three step drops. More QB movement. While moving the sticks. no int's. Can't wait for the scrutiny.

You probably saw Colt tonight. Good teaching goes a long way.
OC is pushing Henne. The confidence level is better.

That is the thing, what proof that he had hand cuffs? What proof that he didn't warrant hand cuffs?

Why can't this year just be a natural progression for Henne where he is finally proving that he is a quarterback who can make it in this league? Why does everything have to be everyone's fault but Henne?

Why do you disregard Henne so much that it has to be Henning's fault that he didn't perform?

is the progression that much from year 3 to 4 that it can't be coaching?

You cant say that for certain b/c this is the first time he's been in this situation. Better OC, playmakers, speed, improved running back play.

I look at tonight as a perfect example of better Henne play magically opening up the running game. Even though Bush was electric and that will add a fun dimension to the offense.

I cannot say it for 100%, however I do believe that a quarterback's ability dictates what an offensive coordinator calls. Blaming everything on Henning last season disregards Henne and puts him down. Especially if he does step up this year.

Everyone wrote off in this game DT because of his jump at the GL but I saw good vision from that kid later.

We get Jabbar numbers from him as a rook..... I'm good with that for now. Look it up.

No starting QB warrants hand cuffs. How the heck do you expect to develop one if you put them on? If that's the case, few NFL QBs would ever develop b/c they'd all deserve handcuffs early on.

It's been stated repeatedly by players and fans that Henning's philosophy (even in Carolina) is to not make mistakes. Has Henne had 5 years of game experience in between last year and now? No. He wasn't put in a position to succeed in Henning's horribly unfriendly QB offense; now he finally has an OC, playbook, and offense around him that compliment him properly.

If the difference isn't apparent by now--- that Henning was greatly holding Chad back, then I'm not sure what else to say..... except---- shame on you Sparano for allowing it.

Well I do not believe he ever had them. Coaches constantly said there were long plays, and he didn't take them.

Maybe, just maybe, in his 3rd year of playing the game is starting to slow down and he is starting to feel more comfortable as a quarterback.

52 yards in a limited role while featuring Bush.... Thomas did fine tonight... Did you watch... He played well for a kid.

When I saw that #33 trying a goal line leap, I started having bad memories of another #33, first round pick in 1989, you know the name. Wish DT hadn't taken that loser's number. Maybe he can do it better justice, let us hope.

did you pay attention to the offense & play calling we ran last year compared to what we're doing now? You do realize there's a considerable difference, right? lol. The "no more constant 5 step drop" is HUGE all by itself.

Again, if it looks like a duck. Why do you blame the QB when the OC has a history of doing this?

Yes, I saw that. However Henning made Delhomme look good. Delhomme is a terrible quarterback.

Why can't Henne take responsibility for his own play? Is he really that pathetic?

The run game and Bush's ability is what helped open the pass, not the other way around. Even the Carolina announcers pointed it out.

How do you not blame Henning? He destroyed our offense. in general. period. People act like Henne took a pill this offseason and miraculously turned into a different player over night as if he never had any of this in him. <sigh>

I think it was at worst 50/50.

It is Henne's job to make the coaches confident in his abilities. He did not do that last year.

Really? It had nothing to do with the team not playing 8 or 9 in the box after some completed passes?

Because I do not see the world in this weird black and white everything is Henning's fault world. Henne deserves some blame for last season and if he improves this year it isn't taking a pill and becoming a different player, it is natural player progression.

looks like he had a 4.3 YPC to me.

LOL at Dupree expecting a rookie to be All Pro after his 1st game despite a lockout. :tongue2:

He's already shown more in 2 games than Ronnie did in 2010. Threat in the passing game; picks up solid yards on 1st & 2nd down.

What are you talking about? I want him to show more than Karim Abdul Jabbar.

Killerphins says, "he would be happy with a KAJ year."

I say, "I hope he does better than 3.3 yards per carry."

Why did I say that? Because KAJ had 3.3 yards per carry. He wasn't good his rookie year. I am hoping a rookie runningback does better than 3.3 yards per carry.

My comment had NOTHING to do with Thomas and EVERYTHING to do with KAJ being a pretty crappy runningback.

LOL @ Toddphins for making a HUGELY incorrect assumption

Delhomme's offense and playmakers around him (along with a stellar defense that made his job less stressful) made him look good. It certainly wasn't Henning. I'll trust Steve Smith's opinion in this instance.

So how do you know Delhomme wouldn't have been a 100+ rated passer with a different OC?

Just b/c Delhomme had a couple good years does NOT mean he played to his max potential those 2 years. :wink2:

Seems like he lost fumbles on goal line leaps two weeks in a row, the other being against KC. If not consecutive weeks then very close together anyway.

that's a cop out answer. He wasn't a veteran. He was a young QB who needed developing. you cant develop him if you don't let him play. I guess Henne was deserving of being replaced by an ineffective wildcat after he'd drive down the field despite the ground game contributing little to nothing?

So the ground game warranted confidence and extra reps inside opponents 40 yard line? There's the flaw in your theory.

You might to look up Jabbars rookie numbers I think I would be okay with that in season one .
Then development happens... instead of drafting say a James Johnson or John Avery.
