    I think

    - Jordan made a number of plays tonight.
    - Thomas should be cut, Miller & Gray run with more authority. Miller had the brain dead fumble, which I don't think will happen again, and he rebounded nicely. Gray certainly has the potential to be good, I just think he's got to get used to the speed of the game. Gilly appeared to me to be...raw.
    - Maybe Egnew woke up.
    - All Gibson does is catch 1st downs. Its practically automatic.
    - I believe our receivers will be Wallace, Hartline, Gibson, Matthews, Bumphis and/or McNutt.
    - I think by the end of preseason, we'll be hearing talk of Devlin should be #2.

He knew his back was against the wall tonight. What did he have, 5 yards on 4 carries plus a catch for 1 yard?

Good news CK is that I agree on 90% of your post (9/10)... bad news is that we disagree on Shelby. Side note, I also think Martin's block that he lost was a screen play (on 3rd and 10, where the qb just dumped it into the ground). Or maybe that was another play? Anyway, Shelby is best as a pass rusher. I was a bit surprised to see him start the game as an end. And I do think he got beaten to the outside on at least two occasions on the Cowboys first drive. He was head up on the tackle and didn't get off his block on both counts. Not only did he start the game he was also out there in the 4th quarter, which should tell you where he is on the depth chart in terms of making the 53 man roster. I don't think he separated himself yet. I mean he's already ahead due to being an incumbent from last year. He's the new Quentin Moses. But when I see a guy like Tristan O come on and look the part at end, I'm intrigued. If they are battling for the same roster spot, we have some games to go before we make a decision. Are we keeping four or five defensive ends on the 53? Jordan, Vernon, Wake are locks. I think we only keep four "true" DE's on the roster, when you have guys like Odrick and Martin who the staff will feel are capable of filling in, especially if they mix up their fronts for a 34 look.

Side note. The staff really must have liked Tracy Robertson (#89) for him to get as many reps as he did at DE in the first half.

I'm pretty certain that Derrick Shelby is way ahead of Tristan Okpalaugo. I think you're under selling him by quite a bit.

If he is way ahead of him, tonight didn't put him there. That's my opinion.

Did they end up saying anything about Devlin? I thought he limped off after his last play, and then Matt Moore came back out. Just curious.

Whatever it was, Martin wasn't "beat" on that play. The pocket collapsed due to interior pressure and tannehill was back pedaling.

According to Omar Kelly, Pat Devlin injured his hand tonight and the team will have to have an MRI on it.

It's a shame. Pat Devlin did well tonight. The primary reason I objected to the Dolphins giving Matt Moore $4 million worth of guaranteed money to come back is the team seemed to be very confident in Devlin and they seemed to be training him for the primary backup spot, so I questioned why (after all the time spent grooming him) they'd suddenly shy away and buy Matt Moore for another $4 million which is a pretty big chunk of coin.

But if Devlin is out any length of time then we'll be glad we brought Moore back after all.

I think if you can bring back a back up who has led the team to wins in the past, then $4million is a small price to pay.

For all we heard about the emphasis on forcing more turnovers: zip.

And we gave up a 15 yard gain on our only forced fumble.

    Just frustrating...

I couldn't agree more. I thought to myself "sure looks like what they'd want to see out of DT". Gray looked really sharp. Thanks for bringing him to my attention last season.

Lamar Miller isn't going to get playing time? Ryan Tannehill isn't going to get playing time? What about Jon Martin? Dallas Thomas?

No. I evaluate performances. You may call them "meaningless" or whatever. I only go by what happens in the game. If you want to sugarcoat it, excuse it, overlook it, have at it. There is nothing stopping you. I won't tell you to "shut up"...I'd appreciate the same courtesy.

I am aware of this. Which first stringers looked good to you? The Oline? Lamar Miller? Ryan Tannehill? I assume that we will have RY, LM, and and Oline on the first string? If they looked great to you, I respect that. We just disagree.

Furthermore, 2nd and 3rd stringers are on the team.

Hmmmm...You are now advocating "mass suicide" by people expressing disappointment by this team? I hinted that an argument by go "over a poster's head" and I was scolded by the moderators. I wonder if we'll see you still posting in the future, considering an option for people who disagree with you is death.

The best player on this team at his position might be Brandon Fields.

    The positives -

Lamar Millers speed - Phillip Wheeler - Jonas Gray - Michael Egnew

    The negatives

Ryan Tannehill looked lost - Dallas Thomas looked as bad as any player in any game of any season - 1st and goal inside the Dallas ten the 2 minute warning just expires and we call a timeout - just amateurish.

7-9 whether you believe it, like it, or care to live it.

Apparently, you can keep producing these posts ad nauseum. It's the first of 5 preseason games. Your overreaction is beyond silly and shows lack of reasonable vision. Again, if in the third and fourth preseason game they look the same, then the complaints become more valid.

For everyone else, you can put him on ignore list for the next preseason game discussion. It will be much better

    Making predictions based on preseason............lolol

Some of you need to calm down. Philbins philosophy when it comes to preseason seems to be he wants the team to be as vanilla on offense and defense as you can be. Did we even blitz last night?

The 7-9 prediction has nothing to do with the Dallas game. I look at the Dallas game and it confirms nothing. It's the first of five preseason games barely 3 weeks into camp on a team that definately needs a camp.

They will go 7-9 because they play a tough schedule with sub par talent. Period.
