Dabo owes Les Miles a bottle of his favorite booze for the excellent play calling that got Clemson the ball back with so much time left

Not necessarily. Clemson had its TOs, so there would've still been plenty of time, and they moved the ball quickly and were in FG range regardless. Besides, all the gassed LSU players falling down would've made up for Clemson having to burn their TOs on LSU's drive.

Damn, R&R Express looks stupid right now. All that trash talking, and in the end the chances of him commenting back are slim.

If anything, Les owes Chad Morris a bottle for calling a ridiculous inside run/fumble with Sammy Watkins on the 2nd play of the game against a physical LSU team that was most likely pumped up and ready to go. Sammy's not the best running back on the team; heck, he's not even a running back period, nor accustomed to taking inside handoffs in that regard, so why in God's name would you call that play and subject your star WR to potential injury, which is exactly what happened, when you can run inside with your damn running backs and instead leave Sammy either on the perimeter or as a sweep decoy to keep less guys in the box or at least cause hesitation?

If not for the gimme TD there likely would've been no need for last minute heroics as Clemson out gained LSU in yards (445 to 219), first downs (42 to 9), TOP (36:21 to 23:39), total plays (100 to 48), 3rd down conversions (8/18 to 3/13), and had the ball for 11:26 minutes in the 4th quarter while holding LSU to 1 fourth quarter yard.

especially with Tajh. If he leaves I'm guessing there could be a few bumps while Chad Kelly breaks in. The receiving corps should be better even without Hopkins.

Is Kelly the next in line? I thought it was always Stoudt who backed up Boyd. Then again, I am not as up to speed with the Tigers as I am with the Fins.

Also, would you take Boyd in the third round if he were available?

Stoudt is the current backup but Kelly is the next chosen one so to speak.

In a heart beat if we needed a QB. I could easily see him going in the late 1st/early 2nd, and if he were 6'3+ he'd be a top 5 pick in my eyes.

With all this complaining my UM fans about Clemson not being able to land these talented recruits from the state of Florida w/o paying them off, I thought I'd dedicate a handful of posts to why these kids fall in love with this place.

    So let's start with #1.

    • Nice campus on a beautiful 87 square mile lake

running down the hill. Not much better pre-game adrenaline & insanity than this (and the first clip was just against Ga Tech).

Compare that to the Miami Hurricanes' pregame (exiting the helmet).
Gee, I wonder why a recruit would get more excited about Clemson after watching these two clips.

One of the loudest and most difficult stadiums for opponents to play in (responsible for a few of highest recorded db levels in football.)

ABC gave viewers during the Clemson-UGA pregame a nice dose of why top Florida recruits leave the state to play for Clemson, and by viewers I mean all the whiners who think Clemson has to pay players to swipe them from Miami, UF, and FSU. If you missed it, here's the clip:

ESPN's producer had a great tweet:

Like I said, we don't need to pay players to leave Florida. Florida schools need to pay players to stop us.
Hey BTW, how 'bout that terrible coach, Dabo!! Guy is suckin' worse and worse by the game, eh! :shifty:

The passion for my college team feels the same to me as it does toward the Dolphins. My brain doesn’t really differentiate between college and pro.

Nobody forces us to become fans of anything (although some of us are groomed into it as kids). We make the conscious decision to become a fan, like I did when I first attended Clemson, and then the passion grows organically from there. Did you attend and U Tennessee games?

Yes, I went to about 10 while I was there in 95 & 96. It was a great time, with Peyton Manning there and some really good teams. In 96, I was at the time part of the biggest crowd in college football history for the game vs Florida. It was a lot of fun. But even then, it was a clear second to my love of the Fins. That time overlapped with Shula's last season and Jimmy's first.

I absolutely had some good friends while I was there, and its a nice campus, but I was also very much out of place, 500 miles from my hometown. I didn't fit in very well, and often felt like an outsider. I routinely ran into people who were bigoted towards me because I was a "Yankee", and especially so if they learned that I was non-religious. I ended up transferring to a smaller school in my home state after the second year and finishing up there.

When I was back in West Virginia, I lived near Morgantown for seven years, and attended between 20-30 WVU games. Its also a really fun, football loving atmosphere, and I had a ton of good times rooting for the team I had pulled for as a kid and teen. But the older I've gotten, and the longer that its been that I've been away from that enviornment and anyone I know who was part of it, the less I've tended to care.

And as I've gotten older, gotten married and had kids, I can't make time for everything. Between spending Saturdays with my family and WVU being exiled to the Big 12, I no longer really even get emotional about the games the way I do the Fins. I think that if I knew anyone who was really into sports near me, and I could watch with other people, that might be different, but its not.

That all makes sense then. If I never had a chance to fully immerse myself into a singular college team, I’d be choosing Sunday Dolphins ball too if I only had one free weekend day to dedicate to football.

Sucks about the Tenn stuff. My closest friends at Clemson during freshman and sophomore years were pretty Christian, but they didn’t really treat me differently for not being one, but it did feel a hair uncomfortable at times bc that aspect of commonality wasn’t there. Not to mention it’s a bit uptight and bland at times to be around individuals who moderate their lives according to an unnecessary, restrictive set of rules.

LOL! I do this game every year. I get tickets for one of my buds for Raleigh, and he does the same for me in Clemson. I freaking love Death Valley. I've had such a great time there. My friends love seeing my Clemson brother (Navy friend) and his friends tailgate. It's funny how we've all become friends over the years and look forward to it. OUtside of a few Clemson ***-whoopin's, it's been very competitive, even with the W_L being lopsided over the last decade. We've been .500 with F$U, but Clemson just keeps beating us.

Last year, after that missed field goal, I knew it was over even with the OT. You couldn't give Watson that kind of chance. Ask Bama fans about that.

Hopefully, we'll play better than we did against ND.

@ToddPhin I have had a long hiatus from this forum but I am back. I remember you being the only other Tiger fan here. Much has happened in my absence, including the 2 National Championships. Good to be back and hope to have some interesting conversations in here and out in the Phin sections.
