Here is an interesting sort of trivia question? When was the last time a pitcher in the 9th for the Yanks in a save situation was taken out of the game, and didn't finish the 9th? Obviously Robertson yesterday, but before that?
You'd have to think it happened to Rivera at least once in his 37 years with the Yankees. But the last time it happened was probably a random guy like a Farnsworth, Tom Gordon or Scott Proctor type. What's the correct answer?
I go with John Wetteland, and of course the savior that replaced him in the 9th was none other than Mariano Rivera, who went on to record the Win with a bottom of the 9th comeback???? just got this Wally Pipp/Lou Gehrig vibe...and of course that was the beginning of Mariano's first of his 37 years with the yankees.
I was asking you fools, I am too lazy to look it up..... Fink I would have thought you would have had a rolodex of information like this bedside at all times.....next to the ummmmmmmm tissues....
rut-ro shaggy.... Brett Gardner was expected to be activated Thursday after playing two minor league rehab games with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, but it didn’t happen. Why? Setback: Not good news.
holy crap what is going on with these guys and their injuries?!!?!? Beautiful game by CC last night.....he seems to work well with Stewart..
According to Marc Carig of the Newark Star-Ledger, Gardner won’t pick up a bat for 10 days after aggravating the muscle in his right elbow.Yankees manager Joe Girardi estimated that he’ll miss 15-25 days, so we won’t see him back until late May or early June at this point. See one minute CC is not an ACE, then based solely on performance "of your expectations", he is dominate and beautiful, etc. It's such a rollercoaster you must live with inside your own mind of how you measure value and root as a fan(actic)...LOL.
I still dont think he is an ace in terms of being a dominate shut down pitcher....true.... and yes he pitched a great, beauitful and dominate game last night....the guy is a bulldog.....this is the time of year when he shines....
Bout damn time.....he really needs to work on his defense.....better that he gets to play everyday down there. Hughes pitched a nice game today, kevin long found the problem in Russel Martin's swing and Cano is on a tear....i smell first place real soon!
I thought he did relatively well yesterday. I thought before he gave up the home run, the 2-2 pitch to Montero was strike 3. He needed to mix in his curve a little bit, because his cutter and fastball were almost the same speed. he did hit 90 twice...Not bad for a 40 yr old and light years better than any of Freddy's starts this year.
How on earth can the Yankees survive without Clay Rapada for the next game or so? You have to really wonder if that viral infection won't end his career, those things can be pretty serious without treatment.
Good, maybe this will kick start him.... I cant stress how much of a burden A-Rod's and Tex contact is going to be on the team moving forward.....
Good, either Girardi grew a pair or at least grew some hair on whatever it is he had...... Now flip flop a-rod with ibanez and we'll be in business
SO true....this lineup is just so old, it's taxing to watch this team right now. But the one thing that absolutely kills me is Girardi's unwillingness to change. He sticks with "his guys" until the wheels come off. Teixeira should have been dropped sooner. Im from the "if it aint broke dont fix it crowd" but this team is broke.... The lineup i would like to see: Gardy-Cano-Jeter-Grandy-Ibanex-Alex-Tex-Chavez-Martin. vs Rightys Move Swisher, i really hate that guy...
Arod I could understand the decline, he's getting older, has a bum hip but Teixeira is such a mystery. The guy is still only 32 years old, he should have fallen off a cliff this fast. The scary thing is Teixeira is signed until 2016 and Arod until 2017. With those contracts they're unmovable unless the Yankees are going to pay in the very least 85 cents on the dollar (random guess I know) and they're at two power positions too. At least Teixiera still plays very good defense. But you're right the team is just an old team and there are no real quick fixes they can do as far as the farm system or guys they have at the MLB level (although it's not like they would bench Arod or Teixeira anyway at this point).
It isn't a mystery the guy just sucks....all he does is swing from his ***, on every pitch, in every count, regardless of anything....he is a pitchers dream to face...no wiliness to adjust during an AB... I honestly do it.....you have to get rid of them guys.....problem is Fink Tex has a no trade clause, he aint going anywhere.... the only hope is that the fans get on him so bad that he doesn't want to be here anymore which could very well happen, they are already starting too... New York has to get past the Steinbrenner contract era.....it is time for all these guys to go (Andy, Jeter, Tex, A-Rod, Swish, Rivera) and start a new "era".....I can only hope they draft well so when they all finally leave their are some replacements...
ahhhh.....love it when the wolfpack surrounds their prey.......never come out during the light though...strange!
