I'm not sure who would want a pitcher like Nolasco who is scheduled to make 20 mil (I think) the next two years.

I knew who it was before I clicked.

He was on LeBatard today, actually.

Marlins have strong interest in Gio Gonzalez.

I would assume that LoMo would be the centerpiece to the deal.

    Yeah, or Gaby.

But that would mean we almost have to get Pujols or fielder.

I wouldn't do that deal if I were Florida. Of course I'm a big LoMo fan.

This. You'd almost have to move LoMo because Pujols is a longshot right now.

True, but Gaby is better there.

And they don't like LoMo anyway. If they can get a top level pitcher for him, I think they do it and really no fans could be upset about it

He's a fan favorite, I'm sure fans would be upset. And there's that whole "sticking it to the man" think LoMo did last year that brought more people to liking him (not that I agree with what he did).

I like LoMo, but I'd rather have Gonzalez.

I think most fans would agree with that once they learned who gonzalez was.

Loria, you're on the run now
Running after somebody, you gotta get him somehow
I think you've got to slow down before you start to blow it
I think you're headed for a breakdown, so be careful not to show it

You really don't remember, was it something that he said?
Are the voices in your head calling? Loria?
Loria, don't you think you're fallin'?
If everybody wants you, why isn't anybody callin'?

    You don't have the answer
Leave you hangin' on the line, oh-oh-oh?, Loria?
Loria, I think they lost your number
I think they forgot your alias that you've been living under

But you really don't remember, was it something that they said?
Are the voices in your head calling? Loria?

    :tongue2:

    catchy tune.......

Ok, in order to move on from that "catchy tune", I'll post a rumor regarding The Cuban Outfielder.

    DKnobler DKnobler
One scout with ties to international market suggested Cespedes will get $45 mill. I'm starting to believe he'll get quite a bit more.

Totally agree Cespedes' agents are positioning him as an impact MLB player, instead of comparing him to other Cubans who have made the leap to the Major Leagues, according to Knobler of CBSSports.com (on Twitter).

Will be interesting to watch what happens.

I just like teasing about Loria....that tune was in my head!

Loria came out swinging with names like Reyes, Pujols, and to a lesser Buehrle, etc....all have other suitors whistling in their ear....think he has shown his hand to early if really wanted these guys, but again, maybe it was all for show and smoke during the 11.11.11 announcement PITBULL party.

Its early in the hot stove, once it settles we can see if Loria backs up his attempt at sizzle!

He wants 8 years and over 45 million, possibly 60 million from a report I heard. That's too much for a prospect.

    8 years is too long.

but paying him around 6 to 7 mil per year is a bargain if you can keep the contract below 6 years

I agree. I think 6-8 million is average salary in baseball. The issue is the length of the contract, especially at his age. Hell, he might be older than 26.

As it should be. I don't get why people are down on LoMo. The guy is a young, cheap good ball player. He should be one of the guys the Marlins is built around, not someone they should be shipping out of town.

Also check out Gio Gonzalez's home/road splits. He seems to be a good fit in Oakland's big ballpark and their good defense behind him. Don't get me wrong, he's a good young pitcher but he's someone that would cause me to pause and think hard about dealing for him.

I meant it more from the ANGLE of LOMO has worn out his welcome with FO - that some thought! Still want to know the package, but LOMO just went from SHIPPABLE cause of attitude, to UNTOUCHABLE when the betting money at one point was any offer and a bag of balls to get the problem child out. Ala, Colby Rasmus. Thus I am led to believe it could have been a Manager problem and not necessarily FO/Owner problem.

Rasmus was shipped out of town because of LaRussa, he just didn't like Rasmus.

I think the LoMo problems were a complete overreaction/overblown by the FO being upset he likes to Tweet and wanted to send a message to him, which ultimately made them into the bad guys. I don't think Morrison has an attitude problem, if anything I think he's someone that can be a leader, especially if he called out players like Hanley Ramirez for his clubhouse issues.

Again, I am not in the anti-LoMo camp. Was pointing out that if FO had a problem, this would have been a deal to leverage and ship him out.

Or people just make the issue with the FO a bigger deal than it was. For all we know they have patched things up since, especially if he's untouchable.

And lol @ Beane asking for Stanton, if not LoMo. I guess it doesn't hurt to ask. I'm not sure I would trade Stanton for ANYONE in the majors.
