Samson on Le Batard says that the Marlins have not made an offer or begun negotiations yet, likely because Cespedes was only within the last couple of hours declared a free agent.

Says that he expects the process will take a couple of weeks at minimum and he disputes the CBS report that Cespedes does not want to play in Miami because of pressure from the Cuban population here.

Marlins right-hander Josh Johnson, according to beat writer Joe Capozzi of the Palm Beach Post, says he felt “good” after throwing a bullpen session (29 pitches) Tuesday for the first time since September. The 27-year-old ace has been cleared for regular mound work, and should enter spring training late next month with a clean bill of health.

I am an equal opportunity baseball fan..... just blessed to follow and be a fan of the best of the best in Baseball! (one day I hope our beloved Dolphins earn that rank from football standpoint for sure):hi5:

I honestly think, aside from my Yankees Fandom.....the Nats and the Marlins will have a great battle on their hands this season (especially if 2nd WC team is added).

P.S. as far as the baseball field....love how its looking.....I honestly only wished it was the location of Miami Dolphins new stadium and Marlins would have stayed at the horrible Joe Robbie location.

Can't wait to see it completed.

I still think the aquarium is a goofy idea though.

The goofy ideas make the stadium unique imo. How often do you see a bunch of WTF stuff inside a baseball park? I like it.

Not if its so gimmicky it's distracting. Don't they have something pretty over the top in dead centerfield that's rainbowish?

It's one thing to have something unique in the stadium to make it different from other parks (i.e. Green Monster at Fenway or the waterfalls in KC) but it is after all a MLB park not a circus. I personally think the hill and flag pole in CF at Minute Maid Park is not only dumb looking but it's an injury waiting to happen.

The Astros should just lay out bear traps in random spots of the outfield.

That'd be the most incredible thing ever. Then they can have "sparkly glasses night" and "fedora" give-aways weekly.

That's fine. The Astro's have nothing to do with us, hower.

I understand why Yankees and Red Sox fans would criticize the aquarium and HR feature, because it's the furthest thing from traditional. But why conform to something traditional when we don't have any real tradition to lean on. Those features do nothing to harm the integrity of the club or organization. The only people that seem to have a problem with it are baseball snobs. and yeah, **** them.

I'm pretty sure that it is not in dead center field.

Anyways, talk to me in 50 years when the home run feature is recognizable across the world.

Actually I don't have an issue with the aquarium. I think it gives the ballpark some charm. And again I have nothing against adding something different to make the stadium different from the rest. But, and maybe it's just me, the HR feature just looks dumb and ugly.

And I don't think you have to be a traditionalist or a baseball snob to dislike it. Just a matter of taste really. There are things at Fenway Park, Yankees Stadium and Wrigley Field that I don't care for much either.

But you know what I'll wait to see the thing in action before I pass further judgment on it.

You're right, its to the left of dead center, my bad, I mis-spoke.

I didn't say that's how you felt. I also agree that the celebration thing is ugly and dumb, but I've learned to embrace it. In fact, I want it to be obnoxious as possible. It's so ridiculous that it might as well be a big light up middle finger that spins and ****.

I take issue with the people who use it as proof that the organization is a joke or second rate. There are legit reasons to paint this ownership group in a negative light (that are hopefully behind us) but some twirling Marlin celebration are not one of them.

Cespedes reportedly agrees to a deal with the Oakland A's pending a physical and his work visa, supposedly thought the Marlins would be a circus. So instead he goes to Oakland? I get that Oakland is better than communism, but really?

    I blame Moneyball.

Ballpark completion and ticket sales dates? The Showtime series? What to do in CF long-term now that Cespedes is out of the picture? There's stuff to talk about.

Bonifacio for now. I believe Yelich is a guy that could profile in centerfield athletically but I don't know if we've asked him to do so.
