Seeing them under the tree longing to have their wrapping ripped to shreds. What's the difference?

Miami might end up the big winner here. Someone els ein the National League will overpay Albert, and the Marlins have to "settle" on someone like Prince Fielder. Best of both worlds in my opinion.

They don’t want Prince Fielder. He wouldn’t bring in the money that Pujols would. They save a few million upfront in the contract but lose out elsewhere.

    Yeah, no thanks to Fielder.

But this isn't happening. Time to turn our attention to Buerhle.

The Marlins brass is shut up in a hotel room and eating in. They apparently think it’s happening because they’re in war room mode.

Of course not but we've been pushing for a resolution all day and he's been stalling the entire time. We need to move on quickly if he's not coming because we really need SP help. Me thinks he's using who ever he can to squeeze whatever he can out of St Louis.

If the numbers are anywhere near close, he's not leaving. St. Louis won't let that happen.

The situations aren't even remotely close. C'mon.

The Cards’ owner has been giving public statements preparing fans for the possibility that Pujols is leaving. You don’t do that if you think he’s staying.

This is real. And serious. And seriously real.

A lot of ifs though. There is no defenitive answer. St louis might not match our offer. Therefore, we should keep trying and keep our hopes up.

We'll see. We made our full court press and he hasn't budged.

IT SURE WOULD BE NICE TO TACK ON 27M TO HIS OFFER THOUGH!

I don't think they do it. They're getting an answer tonight, so it's better to wait.

If we don't land him, it won't be the end of the world. I think we'll land Buehrle/Wilson, so that will help.

This isn’t worth staying up all night for. Nothing will happen until the morning, IMO.

Also, I don’t think we get Wilson even if we lose out on Pujols.

My gut feeling is the longer this drags on the less likely Pujols is a Marlin. It just feels like he's using the Marlins offer to try and get St. Louis to up theirs. He's had the Marlin offer since late morning yet still hasn't committed and now he's apparently talking to the Angels? I don't know, just doesn't seem like he's headed to Miami.

Like Mainge says if the offers are even close, I bet he sticks with St. Louis.

@mlbtraderumors: RT @MikeDiGiovanna: Spoke to one prominent AL GM, whose response to #Angels' rumored pursuit of Pujols was: "No way."

@mlbtraderumors: RT @nickcafardo: Cubs definitely not in on pujols

And just like that we're back in this.

They know Pujols wants to stay in St. Louis though so they're trying to get him to bite on less. Will they up the anti at the last minute is what we all should be wondering.

He would be foolish to want to leave there and I'm not saying he won't sign with the Marlins either. He is an icon, in one of the biggest baseball towns in America. His team just won the World Series, and they have a legit chance to repeat. So if the Cards come close with the years and money, he will stay imo.

    Lets just hope they dont.

It was reported by an ESPN radio station in Missouri several hours ago, that Gammons had said that, and my ears perked up but I couldn't verify he said it. Wasn't on TV, his twitter or print for sure. No one else picked up on it and it faded away.

Then an SFM Admin retweeted it hours later, then former FOXSports reporter and all around dumbass David V retweeted SFM. Then Dave Hyde saw that and ran with it without actually verifying it.

    Gammons never reported anything.

I should have been asleep 2 hours ago. Going to finally take the plunge now. Hoping for good news when I wake up.

Mainge, I told you that the brass were in war room mode for a reason. There’ll be a resolution soon.
