Well, I can claim to be in NYC during the 3k hit. LOL, the rainout on Friday sent us to see Wicked (good call)...had a blast with Family the whole weekend and Wife and Daughters loved it all. And instead of fighting for tickets to Sat game and the heading to Stadium and paying well above prices from scalper, etc...we simply went to Natural History Museum and then got on the road earlier then planned. Was a blast all the same. Happy for Jeter!

Yes, he will but hasn't always been a Yankee. Thats what I meant, and to me I could care less if he gets 4,000 hits, he'll never be in the same class as Jeter.

True, A-Rod is more like a hired gun then a "Yankee", Jeter has been there for a looong time.

Sort of like Thurman Munson v Reggie Jackson

True and while I will always say it is Jeter's team first, I love rooting for A-Rod because he is the villain.....and as well, the guy say what you want about clutch issues, and being socially akward to the NY media......his isnt a thug, preps, and works his *** off harder than any Yankee including Jeter.....for that you cant get mad at him....

I remember in Torre's book they were talking about how hard he workouts, and preps....one time like 5 minutes before, people were like where is A-Rod? Turns out he was getting bandaged up because he was on the treadmill sprinting full speed like 15 min before the game and fell off the thing...

I'd be shocked if Sterling is gone. He's been the voice of the Yankees forever, never misses a game and is a huge homer. Sterling also loves Waldman working with him because she lets him call every inning of every game (usually in 2 man radio booths they switch on and off) and doesn't talk or butt in over Sterling nor is a threat to take over his job. If Waldman doesn't come back (let's face it she's beyond awful) I bet she tries to sue claiming she was let go because she's a woman, not for the fact that she's just awful to listen to and besides being a cheerleader brings zero insight to the game.

Thats crap, she can leave her opinion at the door I agree, but she is great for having MLB news before and after the game, I actually look forward to after the game when she interviews the entire team....she is very good with stats too....but yeah calling any part of the game she sucks, and her opinions suck....

I dont she sues as well, if she is not retained she will get a nice severance package I am sure....but yeah I think NY needs to get more professional up there, the media has written a couple articles this year complaining about those 2....

She's not the one coming up with the stats, they have people they hand them stats and little info nuggets on pieces of paper during the games. When I say she brings zero insight to the game, I mean that I don't learn anything about the game while listening to her unlike listening to someone like Eck or Keith Hernandez or Ron Darling who explain what happened in the situation and what was done right/wrong.

And she might very well do a good job interviewing the players before and after the game but that's not something I care about.

And the only reason why I think she'll sue (or at least play the female card) is because she always plays the poor victim. When everyone was killing her about the Roger Clemens call when he annouced he's coming back to the Yankees or crying during the Joe Torre interview on his last game with the Yankees she pulled the 'people are picking on me because I'm a woman who had breast cancer' card and that just bothers me. No they were picking on her because she was an embarassment on the air both times. That stuff just bugs me, just be professional with your job.

I miss the days when Phil Rizzuto and Bobby Mecer did the games on WPIX.

I loved Rizzuto............"Holy Cow!". Great ambassador for the game.

See Fink I like some humor in the telecast/radio broadcast though....dude the Sox radio guys are brutal, you need to talk about something other than the game sometimes, especially the radio....Kay and Sterling were the best back then.....The Yes network's broadcast might be the best in baseball, as far as insight and learning things.....you have Kay, O'Neil, Cone, Singleton, Flaherty.....insights from every position without the corny "cheese" and "paint" lines either....NESN's is good with Ursillo, and Remy (who when laughing uncontrolably missing calls in the game could be called unprofessional too no?)..Remy has good insight, he is an honest guy, calls it the right way....but Ursillo eh color thats it...We around here have listened to him for years, dating back to PC games....the guy lives 5 miles from me...poor bastard is going through a divorce right now...but see I dont mind the Remy/Ursillo laughing fits, it is funny, and again IMO you need it, it would be boring without it honestly...baseball isnt a sport where you always have to learn something, frankly it isnt that hard of a game.....to hear a HOF pitcher say he would throw a 2-2 backdoor breaking ball isnt learning to me you know?

I mean everybody has there own sthick so to speak, and Waldman's is definately played out, but yes I like to hear at the end of the game why Girardi did this or that, and Susan gets that.....I dont mind the Clubhouse report, and around the league stuff, that she is good at, and I give her credit.....her crying, and Clemens I liken that to the spotlight being bigger than her, and not knowing how to handle it...

Yup back when there were only like 37 games a year televised on WPIX....Rizzuto was just amazing....the perfect mix of baseball and entertainment....listening to him was pure joy.....imagine playing with that guy, and the stories you would have heard in bars as teamates?

She should handle things like a professional not like a little league mother. I find nothing wrong with being entertaining or having a sense of humor but Waldman brings nothing to the table and the only reason why she has the job is because she's not a threat to Sterling and she doesn't step on his toes.

To stay that though is wrong Fink, and this sucks because I dont want to stick up for her, but when the 9 inning comes and she is gone, with us left to just Sterling calling Jeter 5,000th hit, is 2-fold.....

    1) She does that Susan' Star crap, which I dont really care for it, but it is an interview where she lobs the same softball types questions that Reggie Miller's sister does at Lebron or whoever after a nat'l televised game.

    2) She then goes into the clubhouse and interviews the players/coaches, compiles it, and comes back after Sterling wraps up the game, and tells us what they said....alla the managers feelings on the game, a batters viewpoint, the pitcher of the day and his opinions....that stuff interests me again moreso than what old players commentators think is going on...alot of time they are wrong, because ex-players are so set in their own ways when they played that it doesnt always translate into whats going on in these games.

I agree she cannt handle stupid moments, for that she sucks, her jokes suck, her opinions sucks, but she is good at ripping stats out at you when you least expect it, as in Sterling being stupid and forgetting some player, but she will remember it, or some random stat that nobody can think of that she spews out, without the sheet or nugget of the tech guys......THAT however doesnt mean I think she should be retained, I dont think she should.....

Lastly she isnt suing jackcrap, if her contract is up, the enitity can at that point choose whether or not to offer her a new one...if they dont and she does sue, hey she has every right, it is America, but it will be laughing feverously by the Court, come on this isnt the WWE, it is contract law.....NOW Sterling could say "hey the only way I come back is if she comes back" something like that....well damn my man, that is an easy out for the team as well....:tongue2:

rizzuto was the best. here is my impersonation of a typical rizzuto call.

" He hits it far, he hits it deep, that ball is going....going.......and its caught by the shortstop for a popout out."

And Jose Bautista didn't do crap. That's baseball (kind of) I guess. Cano has a great swing, but outside of Rickie Weeks he was probably the biggest underdog.

It was pretty cool having his dad pitch to him, Cano put on a show too. He deserved to win it, he was the star of the Derby tonight even before he won it.

I'm sure the rest of America was whining about how it's once again Red Sox and Yankees (if I wasn't a Sox or Yankee fan I'd be complaining too probably) but both teams have to make the playoffs first so let's take it once step at a time.

I think its stupid for the IRS to say how much the tickets are worth. Yankees gave it to him for free. Yankees aren't paying for the tickets. No money is being made by the fan. How can you put a price on it. Base on how much they should cost?

Yeah it is scumbag crap but they would take the price of the Legend Suite tix (1000+) then multiply it by 4 tix (thats what they gave him), and then how many games are left.....probrably comes to around 32,000...which is off because now that I think of it there are more than 32 games left....

Under the IRS's calculations it says 32,000...that if assuming a tix cost a G each.....and there are say 35 games left...I mean thats 35K right there.....he has 4 to every game....

If George were still alive he'd have bought the IRS and fired the manager by now, like this afternoon. George took care of this type of thing, just give him a call and he'd do something. For a Yankees fan, and one who did that...........uh yeah George would have something in the works by now.

Word is the Yankee scouts will follow Umbaldo around for a few games......

I dont know how I feel about this...I think the kid is good, but it all depends what they would have to give up for him.....

They want Montero (which for him I would deal Jesus), but then they want either Bellances, Nova, or Nunez.....the second part is where I have a problem.....Nova has grown on me, and I think he can only get better, Nunez is Jeter's replacement soon, and Bellances is going to be a blue chipper...

However getting Umbaldo, and then say grab CJ Wilson in free agency (if Texas doesnt sign him back).....then you are looking at a very solid rotation of CC, AJ/Umbaldo, CJ, AJ/Umbaldo, Hughes/Nova next year....

See this is where loving prospects/younger guys can cloud your judgment. I don't think Montero has a future with the Yankees based on him not having a position and the DH spot is going to be used for the older guys so like you said it's not a big deal shipping him off. As far as Betances, Banuelos, Nova and Nunez only Banuelos has superstar upside here so the big question is can he ever be as good as Jimenez is? I don't think Nunez is ever going to be an everyday player for the Yankees unless an injury and his defense is pretty rough, Nova is a 4th starter and maybe scouts think Betances is a future RPer since he has trouble repeating his delivery. I personally think Montero, Banuelos and Betances would be way too much but a package of Montero, one of Banuelos/Betances and either Nova or Nunez would probably be a far deal (considering Jimenez's contract and talent).

This is a big 4 game series against Tampa Bay this week for the Yankees, as they have a chance to really knock Tampa down in the standings.

Nunez's defence definately sucks right now, but he can better that, look at DJ he was awful when he first started, and turned out pretty good....Montero I would have no problem dealing in this deal, none......also who knows who to believe but Banuelos isnt on the table right now.....IDK Fink I dont give up more than 2 prospects, and if it is 3, then it is some Single-A guy.....

If I had to part with either Nunez or Nova in this deal, I would part with Nunez.... like Nova, he serves as a nice backup to Hughes who to this day hasnt really done anything other than show he could be very good, but is injury prone......

If you're not willing to give up more than 2 prospects than the deal won't happen. Personally I don't think Jimenez is going to be traded anyway but it's there types of reports that happen every July.

We've read estimates ranging from a 10 to 25% chance that Rockies ace Ubaldo Jimenez is traded this month. Rockies GM Dan O'Dowd said yesterday "it would have to be a Herschel Walker deal." Given Jimenez's extremely team-friendly contract, and the fact that he has more value to the Rockies than any other team due to the nature of his 2014 club option, I can't see him being traded. What young pre-arbitration pitcher would be the centerpiece? My reservations aside, here are today's Jimenez rumors...
    • The Rockies and Yankees have not started exchanging names regarding Jimenez, according to ESPN.com's Buster Olney (on Twitter). Olney suggests there's only a "very slim" chance the Yankees and Rockies work out a deal.
    • No less than 12 teams, including some non-contenders, have checked in on Jimenez, reports SI's Jon Heyman.
    • Yankees catcher Jesus Montero will not be the centerpiece of a Jimenez deal, a person with ties to the Rockies tells Heyman. That makes sense, especially if the Rockies view Montero as a future first baseman. Perhaps 20-year-old southpaw Manny Banuelos could be the key player, but Heyman says someone with ties to the Yankees insists they won't part with Banuelos, Dellin Betances, or Ivan Nova. The Rockies asked for all four.
