And with regards to Boston I think we need a brawl. Thats really what we need, something to get that 'machismo' going with regards to that team.

But, something tells me we'll do better against them the second half of the season. Just a feeling I have.

Christ Con, I didnt know you were Yankee heavy.....!! nice addition we have.....

Nova is getting sent down...I feel bad, the kid was doing well, and for sure raised his trade stock, but I hope NY holds on to him, I think he gets better as he gets a little older.....

I've been a Yankees fan since we had Roberto Kelly, Jesse Barfield, Melido Perez, Scott Sanderson, Steve Sax and of course Mattingly.

I even remember Andy Stankiewicz - Stanky the Yankee.

With regards to Nova, thats fine. He got a little seasoning, now let him continue to practice that down in Triple A then when he returns, he can do something.

A lot of 11 game winners this year however....for this season, I am happy that CC would rather go to the Islands and rest vs. tossing in AS Game. Rest up, glad all the Yanks arms can rest.

Tex can pass on the HR Derby too. Fine by me.

He's pitching on Sunday so he wouldn't have been on the team anyway due to the new MLB ASG rules. Plus I think having 6 other Yankees on the team hurt his chances too. Did CC deserve to make the team? Probably but every year there are deserving guys that don't make it. Personally I'd with BigDog, I don't want any of my players, especially pitchers, in that meaningless game.

I understand, but not voting him there is my issue. What else does he have to do to get the votes? Have these same people seen what the other Yankees starters are putting up there? Right now, Bartolo Colon is our second best pitcher..........Burnett has the potential to be dominant, but at this stage I doubt that will ever happen. Either way, my point is that if people want to argue that the offense is just carrying the team, those other starters are not dominating by any means; most aside from Nova are basically .500 pitchers. Colon and Garcia have good ERA's but it hasn't translated into a better record than they have.

Just saying, the fact he wasn't voted there is a bit of bull kakka in my mind. Jeter doesn't deserve to go, certainly not this year.

Right but every team has to have at least 1 player be on the team and the fact that there already were 6 or 7 other Yankees players hurt Sabathia, that's probably the biggest reason he didn't get picked. I don't think it's a big deal he isn't on the team, he definitely deserves it but wasn't going to pitch in the game anyway.

If you want to talk about bull kakka let's talk about Andrew McCutchen of the Pirates not making the NL team when he has the best WAR of any OFer in the NL. But he didn't make it because Pittsburgh's closer is like 22 for 22 in save chances, I mean really.

Maybe it's just me but I really don't care about the ASG and while it's nice when players on my team get elected, especially guys that have never gone before I really prefer that they don't play in the game, especially the pitchers. Just way too much risk of injury for a meaningless game that 'counts'.

I hate that Cano is in the home run derby, so mad he said yes......Cano isnt a home run hitter.....why not Hamilton, Konerko, Cruz, Renyolds....

I agree he does seem like a weird choice but him and Ortiz are pretty tight. I could see why Hamilton wouldn't want to do it again though.

They changed it obviously, so the AL and NL have 4 players, then what it gets cut ddown to 1 from each side? and they battle for the crown?

And not to mention its history in baseball that is not tainted, which is rare to come by. I cant wait for him to get it. Hope he gets it in New York!

Also man I love that the yankees are going into the break on fire, hope they can stay hot when they get back. Its funny but when i took them to win the world series I got them at 7 1/2 to 1. Now about 2 weeks later they are 3 to 1

Yeah as much as I ***** about Jeter and his contract, stats aside there isnt one sports player in my eyes who did it better or more professional than DJ....I mean it seems like it isnt even fazing him....There literally isnt one player in ALL of sports that has done it like Jeter.....I hope to God the dimwits offer him a stake in the ownership when he retires......

When he was down in Trenton, he took care of the bill for the catered meals from Thursday-Sunday.....the kid that has number 2 on there gave up his jersey for 2 days he was there.....

Funny story, Phil Hughes was there for a few days before Jeter, and he catered 2 days, and went back to Jeter talking about he threw the gaultlet down, and Jeter has to beat him...hahhahaha actually I wonder what there record was last week, I have to look that up......

If only Derek Jeter(notes) had strained his right calf one day sooner. That way, he already would have returned to the New York Yankees, the AL pennant race and his personal pursuit of 3,000 career hits.

Plus, he could have ended his injury rehab assignment with the Trenton Thunder before Sunday, when the Yanks' Class AA affiliate wore the ugliest uniforms in baseball history.

Don't even try to apologize for the indefensible flag pattern, with its red and white stripes on the torso and white stars against a blue backdrop on the sleeves.

Odd bless America! Old Gory! Stars and stripes please never! It's as though Betsy Ross knitted Jeter a Coogi sweater while tripping on peyote.

The American flag is beautiful when it's, you know, a flag. But when it morphs into a baseball uniform like this, it becomes something not even the most patriotic schoolkid could pledge allegiance to.

Just check the look on Jeter's face. He's not grimacing as he athletically stretches for a ground ball — he's just hoping no one is watching the game.

But someone was: Yankees' GM Brian Cashman. And he took pictures of Jeter and sent them to the other Yankees. As a warning:

Cashman's sense of humor never fails.

Solid.......it would have been hard for Jeter to get 4 hits in 4 games at home...thats some pressure.....hopefully he gets 2 hits tonight, and then 2 on the 4 game homestand is easier...

Encouraged by Hughes start yesterday, started off rocky as hell giving up 2 runs in the first on 4 hits...but he settled down and did well...hopefully he can build on last night...his velocity was pretty good....

ehhh pressure...screw it......as he drops 5-5 and the game winner on them, against a "decent" pitcher.....

hopefully now with this behind them, A-Rod gets the surgury, and I am confident Nunez will play well at 3rd for 2-3 weeks.....

Chipper got the curgury today.....2-3 weeks.....one thing about A-Rod he will work his balls off to get back....I just hope he elects for the surgury because the last thing the Yankees need in the 4 hole is a singles hitting guy who cant run....

Jeter 3000th will never be topped. 5-5, Game winning hit. HR for his 3000th... The only thing that could have made it cooler if it was a walk of hit or he got a cycle

I loved listening to the pundits say "he may feel the pressure of this one". Really? Have you ever actually watched this guy play? Name me one Yankees fan that actually had fear in his heart when there was a big moment and Jeter was around. That guy is money, always has been always will be.

The guy is a pimp. He's clutch, no doubt about it.

This is why to Yankees fans Jeter is the guy, not Rodriguez. Most could care less what happens to A-Rod, but Jeter, I fear the day he retires, I really do as the heart of this team will likely retire with him. It will be a long time before we get someone like him again, if ever.

And, yes this was typical Jeter; pressure - what the **** is pressure.

well it wouldnt count... If it did he would have more then 3000 hits. And I do agree, Jeter the guy you want up in a pressure situation. I knew he would not drag this out and he would get it before the all star game

Yah, but you know THAT would be sweet and very fitting as he's always done his best work when in the season where there is no won/loss record.

1996 seems like so long ago, even longer now that I know its coming to an end. Thats what hurts about this milestone, it comes at the end of ones' career. That was the year he came in and was something, you could see it then. He was a player.

The only guy I can think of for us that has an outside chance at 3,000 hits is Cano, but he'd have to up his pace a pit for a few years to really have a shot, and he averages something 185 hits a year or just above that. He needs 4-5 200 hits seasons to have a shot - realistically.

Thats the thing with him, he produces bigger as the stage gets bigger, and the pressure gets bigger....he has always been like that like you said......guys like that you dont find in sports alot.....He is the modern day Joe D., THE icon in all of baseball, that everyone else just respects.....what a career, if I could pick one person to be in todays game, it would be him....think about who has done it the way he has, in that city, with that media, without contraversy?

    A-Rod will do it too...2600+........

Not to mention Mo is going to break the All-Time Saves Record as well with 42 saves......maybe this year, early next...he has what 22? That is a huge feat as well......and he like Jeter, will just slightly pump his fist when he does.....Could you imagine Papelbon, K-Rod, etc? Please they would make it a circus.....

I thought about this, I would have asked for 2 field box seats (not Legend Suites) for next year and a chance to meet him.....this year is nice but there isnt many games left.....It would actually cost the Yankees less, than what they are giving the kid now....and also wow solid kid right here, got to give him creidt.....
