the only weakness is their bullpen....so you want to bleed the SP's and get to them, and win games late.....something the Yankees do alot of...would love to see them play again...However the Yankees BP is the best in the league, or damn close.... I agree though they look like the favorites...
isnt it so much easier when Tex hits?? he just extendes that lineup.....and I will tell you this, Cano has to stay in the 3-hole, been saying it all year, you always put your best hitter there....but that means A-Rod/Tex are going to see pitches.....they have to come up right now..... Gardy is gold yesterday bro huh? I want to see Montero in the mix, he has a couple of big hits in him I can feel it............ and lastly kudos to Nova, the media was dogging him out kinda say the pitchers are all ?'s after CC, that isnt true with Nova....that kid has shown you all year, and can pitch at this level...if they didnt send him down to AAA mid-year he would have won 20 games...
Easier said then done. When you get a guy like Halladay out there it's hard to drive up his pitch count. He's not going to throw many balls, he doesn't strike guys out by trying to trick them. He just attacks. The Yankees may be able to consistently battle him and get him out a little early but just attacking him may be a better option. It's no accident the man rarely goes less than seven innings. I don't think the Cardinals are going to do anything, I'm actually hoping the Brewers or Dbacks somehow make the World Series at this point.
Right, lets take out starts to prove your point. In 2008 in 4 starts he had a 2.88 era. 5 shutout against phillies 5.2 with 3 runs vs Boston 6.1 3 runs vs boston 7.1 2 runs against Boston I'd say those are 4 good starts. Not great. His last 2 starts were bad which inflates those numbers. If shields is not good in the playoffs, Sabathia certainly isnt.
Yanks comeback falls short in 9th (rain was silly), a little sloppy today with the D and Garcia; well he was Garcia...ok, onwards to game 3....back to CC vs Verlander.
I would have bet anything that once Aviles slipped and couldn't catch that foul ball in the 9th the Yankees were going to win that game.
I am not talking about CC, but I would also have no problem saying he wasnt good in the playoffs either..... like I am saying about Shields....no big deal, he will have other starts to prove it...my point is even WITH that WS game, the stats still aren't good....
I am so tired of watching sucky ump's with their horrible balls an strikes....we have the Technology that is accurate; use it and replace the HUMAN error that is the strike-zone per the rule book. It would be such a better game for it.
2nd straight failed comeback.....3 very weak (by definition = you would never find them on my fantasy teams) bats for DET just beat the Yanks (Inge, Santiago, and Young); and in the inning after Gardner was CLUTCH once again; Soriano gags it up to them. (Ya know Cashman has a wry smile deep in his soul)! Then, sadly, our Captain was out matched by Valverde! Sucks...oh well....down 1-2, with AJ on the hill tomorrow. P.S. Posada has been one of lone bright spots!
Not looking good when your seasons relies on Aj. Jeter had a lot of weak swings tonight. Gardner was great, Posada did his part. I forgot A rod is still even playing baseball.
And thats sad.... when your 3 and 4 hitters literally get what one hit...you arent scoring many runs..... Tex (.091) and Swisher (.182) are such gaggers in the playoffs man....wow....like not even a little production...and who cares what Tex did against Minnesota that year....whoopie......everybody hit that series....it wasnt some big feat... call me crazy but I have an eerie calm that AJ will keep them in the game tomorrow...
Must be those ACE arms in Fister and Scherzer being equally as tough as a VERLANDER......as opposed to otherwise "GREAT" hitters just getting into a FUNK regardless of the arm! Hitters put themselves into funks that the bottom rung of a rotation or pen can easily get out...cause the hitters get themselves out. On the flip, is a guy like Posada who others has crap year, gets on a roll that produces SHADES of what he once was; and even a GREAT ACE like Verlander doesnt shut him down. Just saying, the argument works both ways, and historically speaking; hitting funks suck. Its hard enough to know you are great failing 7 out of 10....now just get into a funk and turn those 3 normally successful at bats into an 1 out of 3 vs 3 for 3 and you have a .100 or sub .100 avg for a series regardless of arms.
It's starting to feel like 2006 all over again... Also no time off does not help. But both teams had to deal with the same thing... Yankees hitting needs to step it up tomorrow
dude I dont care about the argument right now...that argument exist to non-chokers.....this guys just get to the playoffs press, and choke like it is their occupation, year in and year out... my father said I think jokingly yesterday that if A-Rod and Tex did nothing, he wanted to see Chavez at 3rd, Posada at 1st, and Montero the DH.....right now that doesn't sound like a bad idea...
Hmm, so Verlander threw 6 straight pitches that went 100 mph or more..who could have seen that one coming? "(note to self, do not count chickens before hatched as of yet)
it isn't panic, it is not wanting to see the same crap from the same people.....apparently you don't remember when Torre benched Tino in the WS, who at the time was one of the most beloved Yankees......or A-Rod in the 8 hole.... I actually expect them to hit Porcello tonight....
Beltre is turning Tampa into Cape Canaveral (BDH proof)......ummmm Tampa a bit of advice...stop pitching to him!!
I like the Cardinals, but realistically this is the Crew's last hurrah, would not mind seeing them taking it to the house.
Why?? They have solid arms under contract, and really only potentially lose Prince's bat (which is replaceable), if they improve 3B production and infield defense they can stick around for years with that staff. I dont think they are one and done in that division at all. Especially if they add an extra WC team, etc.
Got the end result correct, but incorrect with a game 1 in TEX win, vs Game 3 in TB. Nice run TB, enjoyed it.
Really didn't see that coming after taking game one with a rookie, although I should have, our line up is awful. We weren't suppose to be contending this year anyways. Next year is our year.
Cant wait to see your Rotation -beast mode....and if you can improve your pen....then we can compare how that stacks up to Yanks rotation with one of the B's most likely (at least 1 could be 2 of them and perhaps the 3rd in the pen) being added. The Youth movement will be fun to watch on these rotations (TB has had a youth movement for a few seasons and its paying dividends). Sox offseason will determine a lot as well. And if they do or do not add a 2nd WC team. But either way, I still see AL East being the WC division going forward.
Oh boy fellas, Burnett is wild tonight, he is all over the place right now. To me, why not stick with the fastball? It's like he is trying to be to cute when he throws 97 mph.
Granderson=filth After AJ got out of the 3rd when the Yankees scored, I knew the Yankee had something tonight....kudos to "role" players...they won 10-1 with those 4 runs being mostly due to the non-bigs..... oh and Jesus Montero.....2-2 1 RBI, 1Run.....PLAY THE MAN!!!! He will make the playoffs his *****, trust me on this one...
Of course it was a Big Win....but games in this series....9-3, 3-5, 4-5, 10-1. Yanks have outscored DET 26-14...but its 2-2. And Mo hasnt recorded a Save...and only pitched to 1 hitter...very strange series. So, per my prediction, Game 5 in the Stadium....lets put them to bed and move on to TEX. Let the House Money roll!
Something to mention too......Hughes was hitting 95mph!!!! Interesting turn of events...frankly love him in the bullpen. I am still worried about leaving it on Nova's shoulders...but heck felt the same with AJ right. Tonight I can easily see the Yanks pen pitching a shutdown 5+ innings if necessary. Its still all hands on deck...and it wouldnt phase me to see Nova start and if necessary watch the corus line of ZERO's (I hope) Hughes, Logan, Wade, Soriano, Robertson, and Mo....
yeah he was live....easy to pitch up 9 for one inning though no pressure....but I think Hughes could be a big asset in the pen this year again...
I cant get that TBS playoff song out of my head..."Ohhhhhhhhhhh..........................." "Cuz I'm on my wayyyyyyy" Although Dean Winters has the best commercials going right now....hahhaah at him blowing the whistle...
Well have to say, STL has surprised me...or more to the point PHI has....PHI just cant hit. They have arms, but their bats are shaky and in major funk it seems. I think I am rooting for STL just because PHI screwed my pick so bad...LOL And Yanks and MIL being pushed to 5 games doesnt surprise me. Lets see if both pull it out in game 5's at home.
Watching this team fustrates me so much. I feel like in watching the dolphins. Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
