Semi off topic, but weren't the TV calls of Ganderson's triple and Tex's home run abysmal? You would think Granderson's hit was a lazy fly ball. I was looking at the TV and thinking, "Jesus - it looks like this ball could go out, but the announcer doesn't seem to excited." Same thing on Tex's shot. I figured it was foul, hence the reason the announcer was so matter of fact. They really blew those two calls.

Aight boys....up 1 game, I believe the pressure is totally on Minny, they CANNOT lose this game or its pretty bad from their end. I believe a pressure-less Yankees team is a dangerous one, they can go out and located and find pitches to hit. If they lose ehh it isnt the end of the world they already took 1 and have secured HFV back to NY....but come on to get this game is ohhhhhh soooo good no?!?!

With the Yankees I take a very laize faire atittude I have seen 5 championships, if I die tomorrow I will be totally content on not seeing anymore. Not much at all bothers me with the Yankees, even if they lose, however obviously that doesnt mean I want to see it.

Except one thing guys, there is one thing that bites my *** still to this day when thinking about baseball and the Yankees...that being said two words...Carl Pavano..You simply dont do what this guy did to this team or any team for that matter, the guy is a coward, and I hope he gets firebombed tonight against this lineup....consider this...I hope you Yankee fans out there, get a little hot when you see this guy tonight...think about how bad it was for JETER TO SAY THIS TO SOMEBODY?!?!?!?! I only wish this was in NY....

According to multiplesources (I haven’t read the book) Joe Torre allowed the Pavano situation to culminate into a planned confrontation in the spring of 2006. Torre reportedly invited Pavano to join the team on its last trip of that spring training so that all the players would have an opportunity to confront Pavano about how much they didn’t like him and thought he was milking his injury time. According to Torre, the Yankees teammates didn’t even care enough to confront Pavano at that point.
Bullpen catcher Mike Borzello recounted this gem about Derek Jeter giving Pavano the proverbial business.
“Guys on that team despised him. One day Jeet walked by him and said, ‘Hey, Pav. You ever going to play? Ever?’ Wow. That was a damaging comment, coming from Jeter. He didn’t say a whole lot, but when he said something like that, it was pretty piercing.”

its funny but this seems like one of the weakest teams we've ever thrown into the playoffs and yet i still think its 50/50 we win it all. how great is it to be a Yankee fan?

I dont know about that.....its just hard to judge them coming of this horrific Sept. That clouds the judgement. But the bats are there...Even with a 9th stick in the form or Thames or Berkman its still solid/expected/if not proven? 1 thru 9 line up that doesnt allow the opposing arm to breath. Its not Natl League lineup for sure with 2 or 3 EASY bats.

For me, its the arms.....I have never watched a period of play that has produced so many walks (waks with bases loaded too), passed balls or wild pitches with guys on 3rd, etc.

Thats the difference (thats like the Dolphins Special Teams) where you beat yourself. AJ better have some silly side sessions cause a 4th arms is going to be needed. And I just ask our Bullpen to throw strikes and let them put the ball in play with a hack if necessary, cause Walks suck.

Age has a lot to do with the 50/50 in some sense, but its really just coming off such a horrible Sept that makes it seem like we still arent the team to beat.

well the pitching is what i meant. we have sabbathia and a bunch of question marks. even mariano isnt his old dominant self though he did nicely last night. woods is giving up hits all of a sudden. i really want him to regain that dominance he flashed earlier. but we do have the bats

I hate this HomePlate Umps zone...the the F is the purpose of the official strikezone if you arent going to call it.

he refuses to call inside or low strikes, but extends the zone half a foot outside.

These are the type of umps that make me beg for technology that causes a SHOCK buzzer into the lower back of the UMP, if you feel that SHOCK call a strike otherswise shut up. I hated them when I played and still do. Its not even about consistency...its horrible job of knowing what the F the zone is to begin with.

Seriously, if PitchFX and TBS zone, and FOXTRACK can properly show the audience what is or isnt a strike I want MLB to implement the policy and SHOCK these F'ers.

Yup, I said that early when he came from those sessions and you saw a different approach. He has been clutch to get things going in these 2 games

Yup....right time to hit it where its pitched and hit it hard.

    Right on the Screws.

Yup, our Bats have OUTGUESSED Pavano...you watch, he adjusts softer or breaking balls and we will wait him out and work the count. For now, he is throwing meatballs in the zone, and we are turning on them.

Our outs have been hard hit ATOM-Balls.

Always will be the friend of "GET IT RIGHT -DOUCHE, I am not out here for your enjoyment" type approach to sports and rules in the book.

 Closest I came to be tossed in College, was when I told the Umpire to tuck in his skirt so we can play a doubleheader in a rain delay. He warned me; and I will say that was the widest strikezone I ever saw as a Hitter each time I stepped up to the plate. The only thing was the opposing Catcher and Pitcher didnt know how to take advantage of it (dont think they trusted him to keep calling it), and I had just enough pitches to handle that game.

Huge error....and yes, Balls and Strikes come back to bite MIN....I hate that. Its stinks and ruins a beautiful game if they would simply be accurate on the strike zone.

Retaking the lead was key though.

Yanks jump back out to 4-2 lead.....But Basesloaded 1out and it should have been so much more.

    Bummer......

Arod tanked with easy K when all he needs is ball in play, then Cano pops up to the infield....ugly

Cano has struggled in the clutch tonight.

Robbie let them off the hook with man on 3rd w/1out in last at bat and again.

I have more of an issue with the ump tossing Gardy than him missing the call. It happens once and awhile but there's no excuse for an ump thinking he's bigger than the game, which they all do because MLB offices don't say boo to them.

Huge game by Andy......sub 90 total pitches thru 7....and Wood mowed them down in 8th.....setting up Mo.

Granderson for this series MVP....huge clutch in game 1 and 2...woot. Happy for him....Long did a masterful job with him.

thing is Fink, and I get the reason why he is pissed, but he was getting that Roger Clemens-esqe outside garbo call all night....he cant have everything...I will say that ump was consistantly not calling the inside pitch at all, and that wasnt the first time that call wasnt called a strike...

Berkmans interview at the end of the game said it all

I'm 42 and I have been lucky enough to see Andy pitch since he came up in '96 (I've met him too - nice guy). The guy is money in the playoffs (for the most part - that game against Arizona was awful). I feel so confident when he is on the mound. He was a little off in the first few innings - he can't be missing up in the zone. But once he settled in, he was great, sans the one bad pitch that left the yard.

Someday I will be telling my grandkids about the Yankee great, Andy Pettite (my son is 15, so he knows all about him )

Minn is done. Bring on Texas!
