Great win! Andy pitched well today, despite getting in a few jams, Tex came through in the clutch again also, so did Hughes, i mean overall a great performance by this team... I mean this is what good teams are suppose to do, and the yankees are great this season in games like this... BTW, 30 games above .500, best team in the majors, 6.5 games up in the east, only team in the majors with 70 wins, say what you want, but Girardi is doing a hell of a job this year
We are 8-1 in series since the all star break, just won another one, We are 27-10-2 of the season. We won 69% of series played, thats big, thats how divisions are won! and well championships also 7.5 games up! and still the only team with 70 wins!
7.5 up is sweet.....things are rolling, everyone is getting their piece of the action......let keep it going. Come playoff time, I will be the first to say, the regular season in and of itself doesnt matter....its step up time....no time to tighten up and panic....play like you played all season..and focus on taking series. If they do that...timely hitting, timely pitching its all worth it. But the last several post seasons they have gotten out of their game and comfort zone....yes, the competition is tougher, but our guys have changed during Playoff time....thats what I dont want to see.
I completely agree, dispite the season we are having, in the back of my mind i keep thinking, all of this can end in a quick series... It scares me, i am mostly worried about the first series, i hate best of five game series

Wow, Yanks brought out the whoopin-stick and took em to the woodshed tonight....wow. 20 runs on 23 hits leads to the 5th straight W vs Sox. 7.5 game lead.....2 games remain @ Fenway!!!! Season Series 5-8 and Yanks continue to close the gap with 9 games H2H remaining.
Ok, so no sweep...but taking 6 of the last 7 and taking this series isnt a bad thing either. 7.5 game lead....Yanks keep taking series, really like how the team is playing together, and everyone is getting significant ABs and the bullpen has found a nice groove.
We are playing a little sloppy right now, the arms are erratic from 4th and 5th spot especially, but all in all, we can weather the storm.

Well certainly Sabathia should be in mix, he in no way should win the award. Right now he's probably the 5th or 6th best pitcher in the AL. Of course voters look at that win total so I'm sure he'll have a good shot, regardless of performance.

No, I don't think there's any way someone can make a good case for Rivera this year. Especially not over Grienke, Felix Hernandez, Roy Halladay, Verlander, Sabathia or Lester. Taking nothing away from Rivera, who is having a great year, but you can't give him the award when he'll pitch under 75 innings this year and guys like Grienke and Hernandez have been unreal and dominate all year. I mean if Grienke didn't have a low win total (which voters love seeing a lot of wins) would people even have to debate thsi award?
I am sorry but Posada is an idiot, yeah i understand the heat of the moment, but walk away, i mean you are going to the playoffs, blue jays are not, they have nothing to lose. Someone could have gotten hurt and hurt our playoff chances
I agree completely. Posada should know better than that and will probably get hit with a pretty big suspension, I'd guess 5 to 8 games. Carlson was wrong too though, and should get hit with a big suspension as well. He was asking for a fight where he was standing near home plate after the double by Gardner. If all he did was throw behind Posada it would have been fine, he made his point now get over it. The funniest thing about the 'brawl' was Edwir Ramirez pulling on Barajas' catching gear and Cito Giston coming over and slapping him on the head. It stunned Ramirez and he didn't know what to do next he just looked at Giston. Carlson had a nice egg shaped bruise on his head and I read that Girardi got beat up a bit too. By the way it's good to know that Mark Melancon is good for something besides walking the ball park. He has pin point control when he comes to hitting guys for no reason. If I'm Girardi and Posada I sit him down and give him a good talking too.
