O.J. Atogwe Available, No Picks Needed

Capsforum_veteranOPThe Rams have assigned the lowest possible restricted free agent tender, known as "right of first refusal" to FS O.J. Atogwe.
The team announced that the move was made "with intent to sign to a long term contract." Realistically, it may create a massive divide between player and team. The Rams' tender offer is one-third of what Atogwe collected as the club's 2009 franchise player. While Atogwe's play was down some last year, he remained St. Louis' top defensive back. Because another team wouldn't have to compensate the Rams with a draft pick to sign him away, the 29-year-old (in June) is sure to generate interest.
What do you guys think? I'd rather have him than Rolle, and I've seen a dozen posts that say Nolan likes his Free Safeties crafty and experienced.

slickj101forum_veteranHe'd almost definitely be cheaper than Rolle.
I'm just not sure if we're saying the right things about Wilson or if we really believe he can be the player we need. Prob depends on what Nolan thinks.
I'd say Atogwe is the best option out there if we need to make an addition.

I think St. Louis is going to keep him, and this is a possible way to get someone else to negotiate the contract for them. Otogwe probably wants more than St. Louis currently thinks the market will pay him. So they'll let the market set the price, if anyone bothers to play.

I'm kind of surprised that more teams aren't doing the same thing with more players. It's a pretty good way to find out what other teams have in mind in terms of spending in FA for this year.

Whats the incentive for anyone to play for the pit of a franchise? If they cant offer him at least as much as another team, hes gone. :up:
