Ok guys, just did my draft order for my big time $$ league last night. Pretty standard rules, 12 team league with 0.5 per reception. So who do you guys like as the top pick this season? For me, it has to be one of the big 3 RB's DJ, Bell, and Zeeke. Right now I'm leaning towards DJ but it's a tough call. I would love to hear your guys thoughts and who you're leaning towards and why. If we can start a little thread debating why someone should take one over the other, laying out the argument for and against each guy. I know we're splitting hairs with these players but being at #1 is tough. I know camp hasn't started yet and a lot can change in a few months so we have time being most drafts are not until September. I'll start a poll, and everyone can explain why or why not they voted for a specific player. Thoughts?
Any kind of ppr id go DJ. Hes young, hes the focal point and hes good. Bell is a great back but hes a huge injury risk so even though hes playing for a contract (something i typically look for) im trying to minimize risk at the top of my draft. Thats not always easy. So for me its either Zeke or DJ and cause of his receiving skills id go DJ. If it werent ppr id probably take Zeke who iz probably a better bet to have more rushing yards.
I'd eliminate Bell from your options and replace him with Antonio. Antonio, DJ, or Zeke are all good options imo.
I agree, my only concern with DJ is Carson. I'm thinking this might be the year he kind of falls off a little bit and the cardinals are forced to become a one dimensional team. If Carson isn't able to keep the defense honest, I don't think DJ will be able to put up the numbers he is capable of. The counter to that of course would be he is just a one man wrecking crew. And I have the same feeling with Bell that you have. The Pittsburg offense is just a lot more potent now IMO over Arizona so I feel like Bell will have more opportunities because of the way they move the ball. But also have to factor in the other weapons on that team who are going to maintain their targets. Also have to look at the numbers Bell put up in only 12 games, which were insane. But the injury/suspension risk is a scary factor. I agree on Zeke, I am seriously considering him as well. But like you said its a half point per reception so thats why I'm leaning towards the others but I feel like Zeke is a safer option. This is tough lol.
Aaron Rodgers as my team has different score setting with average points going highest to low from D, QB, WR/TE, RB, K. Though no one goes D first so we all take QB. If RB was first, I'd take Johnson.
Yeah if he can stay out of trouble. Heard he had a bar altercation last night and he's in trouble for something else they are contemplating suspension over. I'm staying clear of him. I'll take David Johnson or Ajayi if he and Bell are gone.
Ugh, got 10th pick in my slow live draft that starts in mid-August. Hate speculating what will be available when you have to wait so long. I'm hoping one of the 4 stud WRs fall to me. In my Yahoo league last year, Jordy N, Antonio, Mike Evans and OBJ all scored essentially the same amount of fantasy points (league give 6 points/TD - why Jordy was #1). If I'm lucky, I might get two of those WRs. I doubt Ajayi makes it to #10.
Or am I crazy to think Antonio at 1? I kind of like the 4th 5th round RB's right now. Just load up on high end receivers in the beginning?
I like the 10th pick. My favorite pick is in the back end of the 1st. 1st overall pick is cool and all, but waiting so long for a 2nd pick blows.
yeah, I would prefer the 10th over the 1st or 2nd pick. I actually like 7th pick. usually still great players at 14.
IDK, I think it's tough to argue against having the first pick in Round 1 and then the first pick in Round 3. To me that trumps having the first pick in Rounds 2 and 4.
I've seen people burned on the #1 pick before. If he delivers as expected, then I think you make a good case. If he falls below expectations, then you have to deliver with 2nd tier guys. That #11 pick (in a 10 person draft) is basically a 1st round pick since I usually count 10-13 elite fantasy players - given that it's a PPR league. 1, 20, 21, 40 vs 10, 11, 31, 32
IMO this year, after pick 6 the true elite talent really drops off, pretty much no your floor on those picks compared to the others.
I think i agree for this year. It really depends on how you feel sbout the first 10-15 or so picks. If its a year you have similar grades on 10 guys and one of them wil make it to 2.1 then i can see obvious benefits. This year imo, youre better off early i think.
