not suprising really. i believe its based on last years FA signings/losses and the contracts they signed? (maybe someone can clarify that) anyways we signed a crapload of FAs last year and i cant remember any key losses.
Well, like you I'm not really clear on the exact formula they use to determine who gets what. However, unlike you I think Thomas was a pretty significant loss.
well Zach is probably my favorite player ever and i do think he was a significant loss, but we cut zach he wasnt a free agent so i dont believe he would come into the comp. pick equation.
That is correct. If a player is cut he does not count towards possible Compensatory picks. A player can only qualify if their contract has expired, they are not resigned, and sign with another team. A player who's contract expires and retires is also not eligibile. Now the exact formula used to determine who gets what and how is beyond me. Others may be able to answer that question.
For example, we should receive a compensatory pick in the 2010 draft for Andre Goodman and possibly Renaldo Hill (unlikely)
I guess it does. But it's not like we should have expected any. I can't really think of a player who's contract lapsed last year that signed elsewhere that would merit us getting one. *shrug*
Isnt it FAs lost vs gained? So Goodmans loss would be more than cancelled by the gaining of Grove and Wilson? At least thats how I understood it, but im certainly no expert in this matter
The fact that we didn't get any picks tells me the FO is doing a good job managing our roster. Once we are laden with talent then we will have to make tough choices on who stays and goes, but right now we are still in the shallow end of the pool.
Well for one, Asante Samuel. And I'm sure that Stallworth and Gay factored into the equation as well.
2009 Compensatory Draft Picks We ain't got none. http://www3.signonsandiego.com/stories/2009/mar/23/2009-chargers-compensatory-draft-picks/ Not sure we were even expecting any.
Hahaha. Yeah, what he said.... and add Jared Cook to that list, too! LOL. <<<<< Tiger fan Posted via Mobile Device
NO ONE outside of the NFL front office knows what the exact formula is. That's a problem. There should be no need for this to be some secret squirrel operation - unless there is some level of discretion involved in it.
