Most overrated player in the NFL.

Soliai destroyed him yesterday. Tossed him around like he was a child. jets couldn't run between the tackles all night. A top center in the league doesn't get dominated like that. But he's got nice hair.

To be fair, Mangold had a shoulder injury and didn't practice all week.

    He was a bit limited.

Wow - I didn't take that out of the game. Considering he was banged up, I thought he played well.

Forgot he was injured....he still sucks cause he's a jet.

Bickety Bam, re-watch the game. In the first series, there's a nice replay of Soliai destroying Mangold.

No, one play does not make him overrated. However, as I stated in the OP, they jets could do nothing rushing the ball between the tackles.

I don't have to - I remember the play. But one play doesn't mean he was tossed around the entire game.

Make all the excuses you want for your boy Mangold. All I ever hear from jets fans is that he's the greatest center in the league. And every time I watch a jet game (6 or so per year), he fails to impress. The Soliai destruction play was merely one instance of him failing to do his job.

But if he was injured, then I guess that's that.

It's really fun that you judged his performance just on that one play. What a joke.

Read the OP again, funny guy. The jets couldn't run the ball up the middle all day long. FYI, that is where Mangold plays.

Funny thing though...I didn't see much pressure on Sanchez coming from the middle.

Mangold's a great center. Probably the best in the league. Yep, he got beasted on the first run play but did you hear much from Soliai after that?

    No. Didn't think so.

He's also playing alongside one of the worst G combos in the league which doesn't make his job easier and with a bum shoulder. He dominated Vince Wilfork last week and is a superior interior lineman.

Pagan defends a jet!!! Never thought I'd live to see the day!

Well, if Boomer says he's the best, then I'll just admit I was wrong. I'm serious.

You're not 'wrong' mate, Soliai did a decent job but Mangold is a really terrific center, very strong at the POA, gets good leverage and is solid in pass pro. I hate the Jets as much as you but very occasionally you have to put your hands up and say that they have a decent player or two.

Soliai is a 355 lb bohemoth. If he can't throw around a 50lb lighter Center from time to time <who hasn't practiced all week>, then I'd be looking for a new nose tackle. I don't think there are many Centers in the league who can block a fresh & determined Soliai 1 on 1. I've seen Fitzgerald drop a pass, Jake Long get beat for a sack, Nnamdi give up a reception, Peyton throw an INT....... so does that mean they're all bums now too? :shifty:

    Aaaaarrrrrghhhh!

You guys are all harping on 1/2 of my argument. And you've got the nerve to defend Nick Mongoloid, who happens to be a jet!!! You're all smitten by his long, golden locks.

Nick Mangold is the best center in the league. Period.

    But....

He did get his *** kicked by Solai from gun to gun.

I don't remember them running it up the gut to the right, but I'm pretty sure I remember a nasty cut back across a gap opened by the center/left guard with an LT run that gashed us for like 8 and a 1st down. I could be mis-remembering that though...

Sanchez didn't get sacked once either. Granted the Jets committed tons of holding penalties that probably saved them more than hurt them, but they kept things sealed up up the middle.

I don't think Mangold is the god of all Centers, but I do think he's better than what we got, and I'd take him over our guys at 100% in a heartbeat.
