The Indianapolis Colt’s 35-31 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars Thursday night moved one potential road block in the Dolphins path back to the playoffs. Thanks to a better record in... Read more...
You have Miami making the playoffs at 9-7 if balt. loses twice Balt needs to lose only to Pitt and the Jets have to lose once and we sneak in at 9-7
my quick assessment says: of the available teams for 6 losses: CIN* BAL MIA* DEN NE NYJ *MIA and CIN would win the DIVs and BAL and DEN would be the WCs of the potential 7 loss teams: JAX BAL MIA* DEN NYJ CIN* NE PIT HOU TEN MIA and CIN would again win the DIVs and JAX and BAL would be the WCs ... albeit, there are a couple iterations between DEN/BAL that could swap them .... we of course would like the 6 loss scenario vs the 7 ... but know that we are in pretty good shape -- especially if we get just a little help. again, this is why JAX will be playing for their lives against NE next week ..... i also think PHI against DEN will be a game that helps us out. Next weekend is when this will all sort its way out - with just a few remaining iteratives going into week 17 ...... IF NE ends up winning the DIV, we still stand pretty good at 10-6, assuming DEN loses to PHI. If BAL loses to PIT, even better. IF NE ends up winning the DIV, our chances are much worse at 9-7, if NE beats JAX, PIT beats BAL, or DEN loses 2 more games. The NYJ, HOU or TEN just can't get in ... well the JESTS can if they can remain at 10-6 and 3 of BAL, MIA, NE and DEN fall away (they hold no tie breakers for an AFC-E WC or DIV).
Some of the scenarios are conflicting. If Miami finishes 9-7, and Cincinnati loses out, that doesn't guarantee Miami a playoff spot. If Baltimore and Cincy both finish 9-7, Cincy wins the division and Baltimore holds the tiebreaker over Miami for the remaining Wildcard spot, assuming Baltimore's loss was to Chicago.
The COLTS loss, the NO loss, the BUF loss...throw a blanket on them! Any of them may have cost us the cushion.....but we still have a shot.
for CIN and BAL .... CIN > BAL in every scenario less BAL with 6 and CIN with 7 .... IF that were to happen, MIA would be #2 after JAX, since CIN would be 6-6 in the AFC and have a 2-3 record against common opponents. i could see CIN losing 2, definately this week against SD and 'maybe' against the JESTS, but not all 3 .... so really, unless they win their DIV - CIN doesn't matter.
sorry but that link says NE last game is home vs houston when its @ houston now I will continue reading.
