Have to admit I have a few friends that swear by this game, never tried it though. Picking up MMOGS a long time after start up is usually rough.

EVE is so specialized that it's possible to compete in a relatively short time. It depends so much on teamwork, and getting good at one thing. Players who have been around for a long time are very good at several things, but you can certainly compete in whatever you chose relatively fast.

I heard you have to put in like 2 hrs a day, especially at the beginning, at minimum.

The game looks cool, but I can't committ to that many hours a day/week/month.

Not necessarily. The thing about EVE is that your characters development is not based on you actively playing the game. You select a skill you wish to train, and it tells you when that training is completed. So let's say I want to fly a new ship, I click "train" and after three hours it's done, no matter if I played or not.

For getting money and so forth, yea, you have to actively play. It's great when you have down periods you can still "level" your character by planning your skilltraining and logging on every few days.

Best MMO ever, been playing over 5 years now and although ive done everything possible I still play most nights of the week. Even taking a short break I get the itch to go back after a couple of days.

The feeling of fighting 500v500 in one battle is just amazing , the adrenaline flows like mad :D
