I used to be a 9-1-1 dispatcher at the sheriff's office here. Usually it is kids that hit one car after another in the same area. I try to keep my ride in my condo garage, but you often leave it out one night and then you get egged or worse. Frickin sucks man....hopefully the people who did this will get caught or get a good beat down.
That sucks brother. I hope you can get it fixed asap with no problems. It definitely looks like a pro job though. That wasn't some idiot that didn't know what he was doing. He knew exactly what to do so that there is little to no damage to the car (other than the missing piece of course) and cut those wires really nice. You might want to start asking anyone you know that works in an auto body shop....not that they would admit it ...but its a start.
An update, I found an unpainted mirror (full assembly too) for $234. It's unpainted, plus shipping. But this is BY FAR the best price I've seen. As far as the website, it looks old, but legit. I got the site from an AD on the Mercedes forums. I posted a thread there asking if anyone has bought parts from there before, no replies yet. Site seems to have other things I'm Interested in.
A better question is what isnt up with Sofla? My dad's 350Z gets egged all the time by the same group of punks apparently, they must have it out for my sister something because I dont have douchebag friends.
my stats might be off, but South Florida is one of the nation's leaders in auto theft. Probably because there's so many nice cars here... Which is probably because there's no snow and crap.
Your stats are correct as well as New Jersey, and Chicago, Ill. The new craze is the GPS systems causing massive break ins of automobiles.
Does the Mor have a garage? If so just park your Benz in there and get a decoy outside. Like a Ford Pinto or a Gremlin. No one is gonna steal one of those.
Just the driver side one. This looks like some chop shop stuff to me bro. These were pros, not kids stealing something. These guys were looking for a specific part and got it. They knew exactly how to remove it... And did no damage to the car (besides removing the mirror, duh).
Wow, that's crazy man ... I can't believe someone would just randomly gank your mirror like that. Next time, your friend better let you park your car in his garage ...
I saw a Bugatti Veyron in a metered parking space on Ocean drive last sunday night, I kid you not. I took pics.
Toss in all the street racers and ricer punks, and you've got a nice ripe auto theft market. When I get my new car, I'm getting Lojack installed, plus a pretty advanced alarm--one that actually works. This is also why you should have your home wired with cameras. Yeah, it seems paranoid, but wouldn't it be nice to have footage to show the cops? Maybe you'd even pick up a license plate number. Mor, just curious, where in Pines do you live? That neighborhood looks awfully familiar. (Then again, I'm in Silver Lakes, so...)
Sorry to hear what happend Mor. You should ask if anyone saw it in the neighborhood because if it was early in the morning, theres normally old folks up at like three or four AM looking out the windows.
Well.. The pics are in Eagle Creek (Washington st. Behind the Best Buy - Across from that elementary school). But it was stolen from a friend's apartment complex.
