here is how the poster turned out...let me remind you that this is not the full size as it been shrunk down. The full version looks a lot cleaner and neater with the text. Also all the pics were scanned, that was part of the project, we needed to scan the photos. The project is to pick an architect and scan atleast 6 images of his works so i scanned these 6 and made a poster. The real size is 24x36. I dont like the text on the bottom but we need a text block where we describe him a little bit http://i36.tinypic.com/8xjupw.jpg It is due tuesday. its one of 3 i have me too
That looks great. I really like it, clean despite the shrinking of it. I know you said that the text looks much better when its full-size but I would change the color of it. A tad-bit darker color.
Thanks! i really want to do good on this project because 1, there this kid in my class who should not even be there. Its a beginner's class and this guy is 40 years old and a professional at illustrator and i think is pretty good at photoshop. He thinks he is better than everyone else, which work wise yeah, but its a beginners class. 2, my teacher is stubborn. He is seriously 90 years old and the stuff he teaches is good but i also do some things different, like use pen tool to make cuts, and he yelled at me doing it that way instead of the magic wand tool which he uses to get rid of background. There was this project where we had to do a basic cut and i did it different from the way he did it, got the same result, maybe even cleaner one and he yelled at me and asked me if i even know how to do this stuff...
Ugh, I detest the pen tool. Maybe you can teach me how to use it, because I fail miserably at it. I still either just erase the background, search for images that are easy to erase with the magic wand tool or go to the magnetic lasso. Recently I have gotten lazy and gone with the quick mask feature, which works, but doesn't give me the best results. The pen tool cuts seem to work, but I can'tget it to work at all.
great job jt. the poster is very professional looking. dont pay attention to your teacher. they always make the dinosaurs teach the beginner classes because the material is easier. your teachers will be more professional and understanding as you progress through more classes. thats the way it was with my programming teachers. and about the guy thats showing off, just use it as motivation. ive seen some very arrogant students at UCF. some of them think that because they know the material before the rest of the class, then everyone looks up to them as gods. in reality, its the exact opposite. you do good work. keep it up! EDIT: i've never even tried using the magic wand. didnt know what it did till just now. lol. i always use the eraser. but the pen tool rocks too.
try writing your name with the pen tool in cursive. by the time you get it to look like real letters, you should have a feel for how it works.
i printed it today and handed it in, i was quite proud of it, i wanted to keep it but he needs it for grading...
Nice work jt , good luck with it. Remember though, the teachers are there to teach, if they are telling you to do something a certain way there may be a reason for it. He probably needs to know you are competent with the basic tools. I know you are, and I'm sure you know you are but he probably has no idea. Anyway, jmo I'm sure you'll nail the class .
