Hey all, i want to go away for my birthday in april, but im not sure where i want to go. It will be for the weekend and it cant be more than a 2 hour flight from san francisco or more than 5 hours driving. And, there will be 4 of us. I thought abou disneyland, but besides growing up in florida and knowing disney world is better, there is spring break and i believe it will be crowded. Napa and sonoma are out i've been too many times, as well as tahoe and yosemite. SO....heres where you come in.... Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated Michelle B
Well.. If you're hott (I'm an equal opportunity a-hole, I assume you are until proven otherwise), you can come to Fort Lauderdale and have your way with me.
unfortunetly, ft. lauderdale is more than a 2 hour flight from san fran. Problem #2 with your idea, my parents still live in ft lauderdale, and i wouldnt actually get to spend any time with anyone except my parents. Seeing as how i live 3000 miles away, my mom would disown me if i came to florida and didnt see them.
Have you considered some place on the Oregon coast? http://images.google.com/images?client=safari&rls=en-us&q=oregon+coast&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&um=1 http://www.visittheoregoncoast.com/
I would suggest Seattle. I don't think that's any more than a 2-hour flight from SF, and it's a great place to spend a weekend. High points: Pike's Market, Space Needle, Tillicum Village, Seattle Music Experience. And Safeco Field is one of the nicest places to see a baseball game ever.
It's funny, I friend of mine came back from Oregon last summer and said its was great, and the ocean views were awesome, I said and I quote (Oregon is on the ocean????)
love seattle, went there for my birthday last yr. I am thinking about vancouver, has anyone been there? know anything about it. I was also watching a movie and they were in whistler, canada, and that looked like a great place too.
lol...my friends just moved to portland, so i went there for new years, it is sooo nice there. Great bars, beers, and food.
Whistler is an outstanding area but its from what little i know its best during winter winter. The company I work for sent the top 1% of its sales reps for a free vacation last year. I just missed the cut by by a few percentage points.
Not sure if its been mentioned, but Las Vagas, because you know, what happens in Vaga, stays in Vagas
I'd also agree with those who have said Vegas. I saw you mention Vancouver, I've never been but i know several people who absolutely love that city.
FinFanGirl... While I have always lived on the east coast, I have seen a few things in magazines and on TV that I would love to do... Living on the west coast as you do, there are charter boats that sail up and down the coast. Each night they dock and a new place is visited. These trips are 3, 5, and 7 day trips. Now you can actually select a sail boat or you can select a motor yacht... These trips also give discounts if you are willing to "Mate" on the craft while underway. When I say "Mate" I mean work as a hand on the boat and learn the techniques and experience the actual sailing... BTW, this is strictly the sailing vessels that do that... Just an idea!
Michelle, I just got back from Eureka and it is wonderful up there in April. You can stop at the Lost Coast Brewing Co. and grab some great beer and eats. The Seafood Grille if your looking for a nice seafood restaurant. Then, mosy on up the coast to Crescent City for the shark tanks and sea lions that show up on the beach (nevermind the ones that wash up with about 7 bullet holes in them...lousy fisherman). Depending on what you want to do, you can have a nice weekend up there. Plus, if you gals ( \assume all gals) are feeling randy, you can go to the Tip Top Club in Eureka...but don't say you haven't been warned.
Agreed, Vancouver is supposedly one of the most beautiful cities. Ive heard the coastline is gorgeous and the city's buildings are architechtually awesome.
Sam, hopefully i dont sound like a dork but i like to do something called geocaching(google it), and so this sounds like a perfect trip. I hadnt thought about eureka, although i've heard its very nice, sooo now i am down to your suggestion...going to vancouver, denver or phoenix.
That sounds interesting. There are plenty of areas to hide stuff up in that area as well. From shoreline, to dense forestry. You should hold off on any Phoenix trip until the schedule is released. I know a TON of us are going to the Cardinals-Dolphins game this year, the more the merrier. I would love to meet the girl who spanked me rotten in FF.
IOWA!??!???........... wait...let me say that again for effect.......IOWA????!!! Just kiddin' around. Although, just last September I visited Albia, Iowa. A nephew of mine lives there and just got married. I don't know if you know where Albia is, but it's pretty isolated. It's a really small town and it just seems like it's out in the middle of nowhere. No, I take that back - it IS out in the middle of nowhere. I'm being honest when I say I had to drive about 3 miles out of town to get cell phone service. With all that said, Iowa is beautiful. I mean that. If you were to look up the phrase "Heartland of America" you would probably find a picture of Iowa. The people I met were extremely nice, as well.
