i know this belongs in health and fitness, but... last night i finally started my lifting routine. i did bench, incline bench, dumbell flies, incline flies, and pushups (all chest). by the end of my workout, my arms were dead. my right shoulder was weak as ****. hours later, after going to bed and waking up, i can't lift my right arm up really, and my trap is swollen as ****. i'm in some pain, even keeping my shoulder still. wtf is wrong? my left shoulder is fine. i'm typing one handed, so excuse the lack of capitalization. any ideas on what i should do? I want to wait a day before going to the doctor in case its just a pull or something.
Sounds like you might have bursitis in the shoulder area, not good and the only remedy is rest, ice and heat and lots of motrin.
I would just go with ice packs for now to get the inflammation down and take about 600 to 800mg of motrin or some kind of ibuprofen every four hours. And stop working out with any kind of weight lifting.
You may have just overworked yourself on your first day. Your first week of lifting, you're gonna be sore as ****.
Well, my left arm is a little sore (the good kind), but my right is all ****ed up. Just got back from the doctor. She gavw me a script for IBPROFIN (SP?)... I have to see her agan next week. If I'm still sore, I'll get an MRI. She said it's not bursitis...
