Honestly TMac is just cursed or something, would be hard to believe that they couldn't have made the 2nd round with Yao. He's been on teams that can't put together a winner. Honestly can you see anyone outcoaching Phin Jackson or Popovich at this point? Theres so much garbage coaching in the NBA right now. Doc Rivers is a horrible coach, so is Mike Brown I mean the coaching is just horrible.
Maybe so, but they really need a new GM. Danny Ferry has done much more wrong than right since the ping-pong balls bounced his way in 2003. The smartest things he's done since that time were signing Ilgauskas to an extension, drafting Daniel Gibson and doing the 3-way deal with Chicago and Seattle. And none of those are anything special as moves. The best things from the 3-way trade have been West and Smith. Szczerbiak's been terrible and Wallace is a corpse. Cleveland certainly benefited from some poor calls, but Doc Rivers continues to do his team a disservice by putting it on the refs. For crying out loud, you won 66 games! Yet you're 0-6 on the road, Ray Allen can't buy a shot, the bench has been terrible, Garnett's playing too passively...but it's the refs fault. When you've won 21 more games than your playoff opponent, you should be putting them away, not *****ing about the officiating. Yet that's what Doc Rivers continues to do, rather than, you know, actually COACH. And though some calls in game 6 were pretty poor, the fact remains that Cleveland has been the aggressor throughout this series. Why WOULDN'T they be getting the calls? This is exactly like Rivers *****ing about game 6 against Atlanta last round. He complained that the calls went against the Celtics. Sure, the refs were blinded by that league-wide conspiracy to make the Hawks a contender again. Right. The Hawks went to the line 47 times because they were the aggressors, and because Boston was always half a step late with their rotations, which is a great way to get fouled. Fact is, Cleveland probably should have won this series by now. They should have taken game 1, and game 5 was plenty winnable too. Side note: I gave the toast at my best friend's wedding reception last night. His wife's family is from Ohio, and they're die-hards for every major Ohio team (Browns, Tribe, Cavs, TOSU). I started out my toast by going for cheap sports heat and said, "let me open by saying, tomorrow afternoon, GO CAVS!" Huge applause. (I was tempted to just sit down right then and there.)
Delonte West is a ***** for real. Why did he have Eddie House in a headlock and kept it going after the whistle? I hate sore losers. If Boston goes up pick in the second half, they should send a scrub in the game to Flag-2 him.
I dunno I mean Lebron looks like doesn't need it but I wonder if he would be allowed to chicken Wing defenders.
In the short-term, yes, that might be best. But they need Allen shooting well and playing well to beat Detroit and the Western Champ. And if they bench him, it might wreck his confidence. Allen's a shooter by trade, which means he's going to have bad streaks at times. And because he doesn't bring much to the table with the rest of his game, when he's having a bad stretch, he's worthless. Posey at the 3, with Pierce at the 2, would probably bring more to the team in the short-term, but would do so at the expense of potentially wrecking Allen's confidence. No, the only cure, I think, is for Allen to just shoot his way out of it.
Good point, Its very hard to believe he is shooting so bad. He does look like he lost a step he can't get past Wally so he really can't get that open look.
James Posey and Eddie House provide a great spark plug off the bench, and IMO, it's best to keep it that way. Stick with Ray Allen and let him get through the rust, because he's definitely going to be needed to come up big against Detroit if Boston plans on reaching the Finals. I don't think benching a player like Ray Allen sends a proper message. If anything, limit his playing time. But don't bench him outright. I'm also surprised by how poorly he has been shooting over such an extended period of time, though. One of the greatest natural shooters this league has ever seen. Unexpected.
He's definitely lost a step. Szczerbiak couldn't guard the sofa I'm sitting in. It's very surprising, because players like Allen usually age pretty well. Outside shooting isn't a skill that declines dramatically with age; guys like Dale Ellis and Dell Curry were very effective for a long time. They may need to run some more screens for Allen to get him that open shot. He's never been good at creating his own shot, and now he's completely inept at it. Now there was a nice drive by Allen, just as I was saying he couldn't create his own shot.
It was funny watching House and Posey on that hustle play watching Wally trying to chase the ball down.
lol @ Eddie House screaming/clapping from the bench behind LeBron while he was shooting that corner three.
Wow, what a HORRIFIC job the refs are doing. LeBron clearly grabbing Paul Pierce's jersey there. But hey, he's LeBron James. What can you do?
AS a KG fan he choked this game, its a good thing Pierce picked up the slack. KG did hit 2 big shots when the Cavs got within 3 earlier in the 4th. but PJ Brown came up huge today.
I was rooting for the Cavs but oh well, as long as the "Fake-ers" dont win it all Im happy. Knicks back to the playoffs in 09!!
What an awesome game. I wanted the Cavs to win, but this was just an incredible individual duel between Pierce and James. LeBron had a couple brain farts in the last minute, but he's got nothing to hang his head about. Yeah, they could have, SHOULD have slammed the door on Cleveland, but they let them hang around. On the other hand, I'd been saying for some time that we were due for The LeBron James Game. We got it, and Boston withstood it. So, it's a glass half-full/half-empty sort of deal. 2109 maybe. That's about how long it will take them to do the complete rebuild they need.
That's quite a step, considering how much of a hard time you were giving me a couple weeks ago. But hey, welcome aboard!
If the Celtics can actually get something out of Allen in this series, it will be a good series. No Lebron this series, Chauncey will of course be the difference maker in the series. Bench depth is a key factor for both teams as well.
