So i watched the Bud shootout on Saturday and i am really not sure how to react to what i saw. Tandem racing was basically what it was. All cars were paired up and they werent racing in larger groups than two. Certainly a difference than in years passed. A new racing surface coupled with those stupid restrictor plates the main reasons why. Curious what u all thought. Imo it makes the racing even more dangerous. Case in point the two crashes. Car in front has to know what his partner is doing and vice versa. It also seemed like less fans were there on Sat night as prior years. Wonder if thats due to the economy or are fans fed up with what they are seeing.
Eh, the Jimmie Johnson Racing League has bored me to tears for the last two yrs now P13. Pity really as it would fill in a nice gap between the Lockout and the start of the CFL season, but why bother when JJ has won 5 straight titles?
Trevor Bayne wins?! Are you kidding me?!?1 Wow, I watched all the races of speedweeks in Daytona this year, and what I saw from that kid, right from learning the new 2 car draft format with Jeff Gordon in the Duels on Thursday, all the way through today's race, the kid was incredible. He pushed some of the sports best drivers around that track flawlessly all day, without incident, in only his second career start, and first on a restrictor play track. Just ridiculous what he accomplished at his age, with his lack of experience, as perfect as he did it. Wasnt the best race I've ever seen, not a fan of the two car draft crap, but it did make for some exciting momments and finishes to every race, the shootout, the Duels, the trucks, the nationwide race and then the cup race today. Could have been better, especially without that huge wreck today on lap 30, but man oh man... Good for Trevor Bayne. His life changed bigtime today, and he's only 20. Wow.
Reminded of what I liked, and hated about NASCAR in this one. 9 cars packed in together at 190 mph plus..and it sounds great on surround sound 4 Wrecks at least when it came time to finish, that was such a letdown.
NASCAR needs to change their rules so that they can guarantee at least 1 huge pile-up wreck per event.
