It has to be an actual squad covering all positions, not just 5x Power Forwards etc... And you can include a sixth man. Which players count? This has some leeway but the idea is players whose careers were shortened for health or other reasons. It's tricky because some players had injuries but tried to play and their careers sort of dwindled rather than ending. Technically you can argue that for lots of injured players and it's hard to draw a line. For example, Alonzo Mourning clearly had health struggles and his career wasn't what it could have been, but he still played 16 years in the league and had what could be considered a full career. Should he be included? I'm not sure honestly. So make your case. However, people like Michael Jordan should not be included. The guy retired and came back and retired again. That was his choice, and maybe peopel who have liked to see more, but he had a full career. Same for Bird and Magic. Those guys had full and accomplished careers. Yes they suffered injuries, but they still had solid careers. This list is for guys who didn't have the careers it's clear they could have but for injury etc.
Here's my 5 as it stands: PG - Penny Hardaway SG - Harold Miner SF - Grant Hill PF - Larry Johnson? Struggling with this one. I liked LJ but not totally enamored with his game. Can't think of any other PF's in this category right now though... might come back to this one. C - Yao Ming seems the obvious choice. He didn't last 10 seasons. On the flip side, he managed to accomplish a decent amount in his time.
C Greg Oden PF Maurice Stokes SF Reggie Lewis SG Drazen Petrovic PG Pete Maravich honorable mention: Len Bias, Michael Ray Richardson, Lloyd Daniels, Earl Manigault, Bernard King
