    his brilliant strategy of RUNNING bought us time to turn the war to our advantage. Had he been dumb enough to fight the British early we would still be British subjects

    It has been said that 30 % fought for Freedom while 30% remained loyal to the crown and 40 % sat on the fence waiting to see who would win. 3 % of the 30 % who fought were the movers and shakers of the revolution. If you think about it thats not a lot of people.

    Another note to ponder is that the war was not popular at home and the Brits had alot of trouble getting and maintaining troop levels. Kind of like Vietnam in that respect.

    Washington = Ike? Thoughts?

    Washington's mobile infantry was copied by Chairman Mao, and helped in winning his revolution as well.
