is 10 months and has a 104 degree fever......we gave him baby tylenol.....should I jet to the ER or just keep an eye on him tonight? any parents with experience been thru this? its scary......
I don't know much about parenting seeing as I don't have kids but I think I'd call someone. ? Better to be on the safe side. Let me go google it. http://www.keepkidshealthy.com/symptoms/fever.html Whether or not your child has a fever, if he is very irritable, confused, lethargic (doesn't easily wake up), has difficulty breathing, has a rapid and weak pulse, is refusing to eat or drink, is still ill-appearing even after the fever is brought down , has a severe headache or other specific complaint (burning with urination, if he is limping, etc), or if he has a fever and it is persistent for more than 24 to 48 hours, then you should call your pediatrician or seek medical attention immediately. Also, you should call your doctor if your child has a fever and another medical condition (heart disease, cancer, sickle cell, immune system problems, etc.). When in doubt, call your doctor when your child has a fever, especially if you think that your child is ill appearing.
Yeah, 104 degree temperature is not a good thing at all. Best to seek medical attention bro. Godspeed, keep us updated on the situation.
really I was reading fever is natural to fight off infection and it wasn't harmful......from webmd....
Fevers are natural. But anything above 102 degrees is serious and should be checked out. Especially in an infant. Your Baby?s Temperature and Fever
You might not want to believe me cause of my rep but Good you are talking to the doc. They will most likely tell you to swap tylenol with ibuprofen every four hours. Don't panic. Youngsters can sustain the fever. Me little one had 106 I've been there with my youngsters. Cold rag on the forehead and please stay with him keep him aware.
If you don't hear from your doc, get your son into the er just to make sure he is okay. May everything be okay with your son bro.
fever is good, to a point. If it gets to high your body overheats, which is very bad. I would take him to the hospital or doctor bro. Good luck hope he feels better....... Also you may want to use cool towels to cool him down a bit. What my parents used to do....
104 isn't so bad in kids as long as it's monitored but in toddlers & babies it can be very serious. Honestly I wouldn't wait around on the doc if he hasn't called back yet because it's better to spend a few hours in an ER than to have any risk to your baby. If you've given Tylenol and it hasn't gone down in a half hour I would take him in.
any word? hope the kids ok. i know 104 is extremely high in adults, but kids can sustain a higher temp safer. anything over 104 is life threatening though in everybody.
Is he okay? Do you want prayer? If you do please post his and his mother's first and middle names. If Jewish, then the Hebrew name is better, but the English names work as well.
Yep. It's already been said. Anything above 102 should trigger a call to the doctor's office. Fever is natural, but, as has already been said, 104 is too high over long periods.
Dude! I hope the boy is doing well and you got him to the doctor. Let us know buddy, my prayers are with you.
hey everyone....i thankyou from the bottom of my heart for the thoughts and prayers.....his doctor never called....so we went to the ER.....coudlnt believe there wasn't a wait..... they gave him a chest xray and found he had lower lobe pnemonia.....so they found the infection causing the fever....they got him switched to motrin (good call vampire baby ) and put him on a antibiotic for his infection......we didn't get home till 4 in themorning so I apologize it took so long with an update..... good news we woke this morning and his temp was down to 99 so that's great and he's napping now...and I getta sick day from work thanks so much everyone....your all great this family here is incredible!!!!!!!!!!!
Awesome. Pneumonia is nothing to fool around about, and I am glad they caught it and are treating it. Hope your son recovers quickly.
