David Wilson went in the 1st round. He's a smaller back than Jonas Gray obviously, but it's an interesting study between the two. Smaller backs can get a lot of yards after contact as well, but they have to rely on tehir speed more to create big plays after broken tackles.

Looking at plays where neither player actually broke a tackle, Jonas Gray averaged about a full yard more after contact than David Wilson that I could tell. In total, they averaged about the same, 4 yards after contact per play. Gray broke a tackle every 2.8 plays, while Wilson broke one every 3.8 plays.

If that's what you were saying, why did you phrase it the following way?

I didn't put any words in your mouth, those are your own words.

I just don't see how he can fail that test just about every time while creating so many yards after contact and breaking so many tackles. To each his own.

I take it back, I just did some more games of David Wilson's and those numbers before don't necessarily represent his entire body of work very well. I show broken tackles on one every 5.8 plays. I show an average of 1.5 yards after contact on plays where Wilson doesn't break any tackles. He gets 2 or more yards after contact on only 40% of those runs, whereas Gray does that closer to 80% of the time.

The differences are starting to become clearer, and more along the lines of what you expect. Gray averages more than a yard per carry more after contact and breaks tackles much more often.
