got other pieces to look @ in the final stretch: 1) need to see if the Pat White can run the WildCat 2) have to find out if Pat Turner will be a keeper 3) & what the potential of Murtha is @ RT & possibly TE 4) got two RB's to school & tool: Hilliard & Sheets 5) need to calibrate Smith & Davis @ CB & experiment Clemons @ safety 6) the coaching up of Wake, Solai, Merling & Hartline is critical 7) deciding on what to do with Matt Roth & GinnJr. 8) the resigning of both Williams & Brown are paramount 9) to see what Tyler Thigpen really brings to the table 10) the further development of our franchise QB & WR Stable we will compete to the very last game & should always play to win there will be very exciting games down the stretch however,@ this point in the season, we should be playing with an eye on next year We will contend in 2010!
To me it personally looks like a lot of that stuff may have to wait until training camp next year. Certainly some of these points such as the young CB's will be a trial by fire situation. Clemons may also get a chance to step up. Its hard to find these type of drastic moves out while the team is still contending for a division title. Personally, I don't think its broke, so don't fix it.
That sound like something to do if or when we fall out of a chance for the playoffs. And even than Henne needs the reps more than Thigpen
Thigpen doesn't need reps unless Henne goes down with injury (knocking on wood to make sure this doesn't happen!). Thigpen will be a great backup with a lot of upside. We saw what he brings to the table when we played KC last year.
look for a pattern to begin to emerge in our game planning that experiments along the line of the ten considerations, while still competing 100% on the field Henne is the starter. What we need to find out is what Thigpen & White can contribute to our game & ultimately how the bench will look in 2010: 1) can Pat White be the backup in the ConventionalOffense? 2) or Thigpen run the WildCat? who is the #2 & #3 @ backup?
Agreed. I'm as unhappy at 2-4 as anyone, but the season isn't over yet... I'm not saying we're going to make a run like last year, but it's not impossible. And I think people mistake this regime for someone else, because they're not just going to throw their hands in the air and become unglued and just start a bunch of rookies because "the season's over". They're going to play all the right guys and try to win as many games as possible and build off of that. Clemons will play when the coaches feel he's ready, not just because the fans are mad at Gibril Wilson. Turner isn't going to play just because the fans are mad at Ted Ginn. It's a process and the coaches will activate the best men from the roster every single week to give the team the best chance to win. If anyone thinks Parcell's and Sparano are going to do otherwise, you have no idea who these guys are.
There is a big difference between unglued & giving up on the season & playing with the Reconstructive Eye needed to develop the future franchise for the remainder of the season. All I am suggesting is that we play the same game with the same intensity, with a little different mix now & then. There are questions that must be answered this year & work to be done in the development of the franchise
Like what? Can a rookie QB, S, and WR just jump into the season after barley playing and be good players? Don't we have time for that? They've all got multi year deals. The work the coaches do in TC and during the season mean something. I'm sure they can figure out the development of those guys from where they're at in practice. When they progress to the point where the coaches have confidence in them, they'll play ball. Until then, they need to evaluate guys like Wilson and Ginn, as they're far more important right now.
I think most of your points can wait until we are completely out of the playoff picture or until next training camp. We are only 2-4.... The same exact record that we had last year at this time. Edit: Things I think we should work on this year are: Offensive and Defensive play calling. Mostly Offensive but on Defense I think we should draw up more blitz's almost every down you just see a 4 man rush, that rarely gets enough pressure, giving the QB's enough time to exploit our weak secondary. another thing we need to change, and I don't think there would be anybody that would really argue with it is giving Clemons a shot over Wilson. If Clemons sucks it up so be it but it really wouldn't be worse than the effort Wilson is giving up.
I see the Trifecta going down the road I suggested, as long as there is room for development & experimentation w/o totally sacrificing the season. It only makes since that they do so, had they thought we were ready to make a serious run @ the big enchilada, we'd have traded for a WR obviously, they didn't see the SuperBowl in their sights as big a homer as I am, even I can figure that much out however I expect the same intensity to be played out in every game better to lose a battle & win the war this is just year two there are many battles to be fought before we win a SuperBowl it is my expectation that we will beat the jests this Sunday the Saints were our turning point, unless there is Divine Intervention winning the Division or even a WildCard lock, will be very difficult my hope is for a winning season & a productive year two then We will Contend in 2010!
2 points 1. We don't need these type of threads until we get loss #7 2. I still believe we will re-sign Penny as our back-up next year
the problem is not the thread it is our reality I will concede: anything can happen on any given Sunday however, my money is on building the team in year two as we play to win every game it is what it is a very difficult start & schedule for year two
I understand, but there is still much to do. I see some view this as a negative post. It was not written to be negative but a positive & realistic spin on the season. this is my last post for this thread GoFish!
What type of threads do we need? Are you going to be the one putting them up? I'm new here, and just want to know the type of threads to reply to. LOL
Oh hell, don't let the "Almightier Than Thou" posters scare you away. If they knew any more than critisizing others, they would be putting up WONDROUS threads themselves. You will not see that from most, too busy picking on others to come up with something original. LOL
