The writing seems to be on the wall. Half of Bennigan's stores have been closed. http://cbs2chicago.com/local/bennigans.restaurant.shutdown.2.782428.html
The Monte Cristo looks GREAT on the menu but tastes like CRAP after about 3 bites... You guys know what this means...
I never had the Monte Cristo, but I loved the Buffalo Chicken sandwiches. They were mammoth for the price. Then they had $4.99 burgers (Guiness Glazed burger FTW!) for a while and the $5 cash crunch lunch was great.
Good. **** 'em. I'm sorry, but I hate Bennigan's. I've had too many lousy experiences there, from getting kicked out of the bar for no reason (in fact, the wrong reason; they thought we were stiffing the bartender when in fact we'd left a huge pile of tip money there that he somehow missed) to waiting infinitely long periods of time for food to receiving the single worst burger I've ever tasted in my life. Even worse than the time I ordered a McDonalds cheeseburger with "no onions or pickles" and received ONLY onions and pickles. Not even cheese. Even that pile of crap was better. And the last time I decided to give Bennigan's a chance, I found out they took the Southwest Sampler off the menu, the one thing that was pretty good. Good riddance, Bennigan's. Oh, and believe me, you can find a better Monte Cristo almost anywhere else that serves that delightful sandwich.
i love their salmon caesar salad but we don't have bennigans up here, so i won't miss much. although i did LOVE that restaurant when i was in TX & FL. the monte cristo was good, but was a heart attack on a plate.
That's the funny thing about franchises. I've never had a bad experience. Didn't go all that often, but always had a good time. However, taking the SW Sampler off the menu is criminal. For that alone they deserve to perish.
I'm not quite sure what you mean. You've got to remember I'm from Tennessee so I'm a bit slower than others.
Y'all can still come to the Bennigan's here in Springfield. We're still open, and we have much better service than Phil "Bitter" Unwin has encountered.
Nope UT-Knoxville, which could be worse depending on your standards. I don't even know how you remembered that. You must have way too much time on your hands and you'd like too smother me in gravy you big dirty man. Wouldn't you?
Here's an interesting post-mortem from Newsweek. And the writer must be a visitor to this site -- look at the lead.
