Wow, a-lot of anger for nothing more than trading a decent possession receiver. This team needed defensive-back depth due to Will's balky knee, and I think it was a fair trade for both teams.

From the anger, and frustration caused by this deal, you would have thought we traded a perennial pro-bowler, for Cecil Collins. :pointlol:

Sorry man I root for the name on front of the jersey, not what's on the back. Good guy or not, come week two, Cam's the enemy, and I hope he gets shut down, and/or lit up when he comes across the field on a crossing route. Players come, and go, the Dolphins are forever.....

With all that said, I have no issue with Cam. I hope he has a solid, healthy season after week two.

That Camarillo could easily catch 50 passes is more testament to the offense than to him imo. No disrespect to him or you of course.

He could have caught 50 balls here if he was thrown to enough , he wouldn't have been though , and could be in Minnesota.

Miami obviously wasn't comfortable going into the season without Will Allen healthy and productive , and Sapp will get plenty of snaps , both as nickel back maybe safety , and as a positive special teams guy.

I think , if you look at it as you describe , it is could Miami have gotten a better player at his positions , because they needed that much more than they needed Camarillo imo.

For me on a selfish level I like this move in that I believe we will add some much needed speed to the wr corp and team overall. I think we may see Moore a fair bit against Atlanta , with Miami wanting him to make up their minds.

Miami , imo , will be a better team because of this trade , and that to me is the question that was or will be answered.

He did catch 50 passes in 09..

Perhaps, but my hope is this is a Todd Bowles pick up one that he feels he can do some things with in blitzing and the nickel.

My gut had him going to Detriot or KC.

That will be great to watch, clearly they want to have a look at someone else, the rumor is that player is Marlon Moore, but somehow..not feeling that one.

Imho the guy is Julius Pruitt..he does more than Moore.

But literally, it could be anyone, Moore, Pruitt, Wallace someone likes one of them.

I think that as well, assuming of course the Wr in question has been properly identified, evaluated, and then produces.

This is a large risk to take, a mediocre Db and a roll of the dice UDFA Wr in exchange for Mr. Consistency, this will work out well, or there will be yrs of *****ing and moaning about "we let another Welker go for nothing".

And if Bess and/or Hartline go down are you willing to bet the season on the likes of a Turner? Cause with this move that's just what Irish did; bet this season on a no show and two/three rookies.

I know injuries happen, however do you make part of the team worse just in case there is an injury?

If Smith went down and Allen is still injured, we'd bet this season on Jason Allen and Nolan Carrol.

well look at it this way. From here on out we will be trading and cutting players every year that have actually contributed. Thats the sign of a good team. Trading one good player for another. Basically all we are doing is trading the bottom of our roster' depth to shore up a perceived weakness by our coaching staff. And we kill two birds with one stone since Sapp is very good on special teams whereas Camarillo isnt good on special teams. You'll like Sapp. Maybe he'll play like crap the first preseason game but give him time to learn the playbook and the guy is going to grow on this fanbase.

i'm kinda rooting for Pruitt too Padre. It would be nice to have at least one receiver who can run a 4.4. Moore and Pruitt would be my wish if we dont look outside but I'm really hoping we pick somebody off the waiver wire. I have about seven or eight receivers I would love to bring in here for the 5th spot. Some ready to contribute and a few projects

and remember Wes Welker is all I will say.....he also was the "throwaway" reciever that we didn't need. He now has been the most reliable reciever in the league and a star since he left us. Week 2 this trade will haunt us....:tantrum:

We've been over that a million times....We had to trade Welker. He was an RFA, and the Pats were going to put a poison pill in his contract that would force us to pay a ridiculous amount of money if he played more than 3 games in the state of Florida if we were to match the offer. So both teams played nice and orchestrated a trade.

And it's a totally different situation...Wesley excels because of the talent around him...he wouldn't have been putting up those numbers here.

Cam would've been lucky to catch 30 passes for us this season because of the guys in front of him.

I guess we are deeper at WR than CB and this is a solid move but really Cam was a goto guy on 3rd down. I think Farve is going to throw to him ALOT, I think he'll wind up having a big season on a really good team, not really excited about this move but we do need some CB depth.

The offensive system and the QB there made Welker. Not a knock on his ability, but with Moss on the outside and his uncanny ability to get deep and make catches, that opened up a lot of underneath stuff for their offense. Enter Wes Welker, a very good slot receiver where straight line speed didn't matter, and you've got a superstar. Again, I thought a lot of Welker and still do, but the system fit his particular talent there. The same may come of Cammy in Minny...same offense, stud QB and good OL. Of course they are hurting because of losing Rice. That could slow down their run to the SB, but I think Cammy can flourish there, given the chance.

Conversely, I didn't see Cammy doing any better here this year than he has in the last few years here. Not that he's done poorly, but this offensive system is based differently. Additionally, pieces of this offense , like our QB are still developing, whereas the Pats and Minny have a fully developed offensive system...

I never would have thought we would have too many good WRs just two years ago.

How times have changed for the better.

Being that my fiancee is a huge vikings fan and having the Sunday ticket, i have gotten to see a lot of vikings games over the last few years.
Benny sapp - High motor guy; hard hitter; excellent special teams player. I've personally seen him knock the snot bubbles out of someone. He's not going to be a high interception guy, but i can see him causing a lot of fumbles for the dolphins. It seems over the last couple of yrs his assignment has been the Slot reciever/tight end which would explain the amount of catches he gives up. But, i do like him.

As for Cami"WELKER"illo, i will miss him and i wish it was patrick turner the phins gave up. But this is an amazing oppurtunity for him especially with the amount of help the vikings need. I bet Brett is wishing he stayed in hattiesburg.

How I see that is we have a starter down now ( nickel back is a starter imo ) and we addressed that . If we would have received an injury to a CB we would be in far greater need than if we have wr injury.

We don't of course, and I believe it is easier to add a 4th wr than a nickel back. Just my opinion of course. Plus I feel it is time to add some speed to the team overall and to the wr corp , this allows that as an extra.

Prudent trade as I see it.

Hey guys I'm one of the ones saying that Cammy would be cut or traded. Also called for a step up for Moore/Wallace. Read my other post if you don't believe me.:wink2:

My point was and still is with someone of Camarillo's ability we should have gotten a better trade outta this. Will Allens injury has been known about for quite some time and we have had months to resolve this issue. The Vikes, on the other hand were put into a I need an answer now mode, we got a second for Welker yet we get a ??????? for Camarillo, who BTW produced better for us than Welker did while here, so imvho we got taken to the cleaners.

Irish treated this as if we were the beggers here, don't you think? I do thus I'm not pleased!:pity:

Seeing you mentioned you thought he may get cut , I don't see how we got less than fair value then?

Fairly comporable talent , but at a position we had a much greater sense of rgency to find a bbody that can play , imo.

A starter for a relief guy is not fair value. Being cut or traded put under the light of having too many good young WRs plus the fact that this FO wants to go with the younger player does not lessen the fact of Cam's starting ability.

As for need I would submit to you that the Vikes/Farve had/have a greater need than we and I would also point out that there are other teams that are WR hungry also thus we gave away a proven gem for very little value in return, if only going by the example of what we got for Welker.

I would also be remiss if I didn't point out that this trade has the overwhelming possibility of biting us in the rear come week two of the regular season seeing that these two players have a better than 70% chance of meeting on the field of play and I would not bet against Cam in that situation, will you?

Pray tell, what value was that? He was the 4th most talented receiver on this team, with no upside and no special teams value. He was never going to be on the team this year, not with the injury last year and not with him being the only Cam Cameron holdover. Anything thinking to the contrary is just wishful.

Cam is no Marshall Brandon and he may not be as valuable to us, since the young guys are looking better, but he would have made this team, even if it were at the expense of Turner, Moore, Pruitt or whomever...He might have been a Cam-Cam holdover, but they (the Troika) gave him a 3 yr extension last offseason...that has to say something... There has been plenty of bantering back and forth as to whether he was the 4th best, 3rd best or even 2nd best. I think that Hartline may surpass Bess and Cammy because his athletics are slightly better than those guys. He has some learning/proving on the field to do before he is annointed our second best WR, but it appears he's on that track. Bess and Cammy were pretty much the same WRs. Both excelled in the slot and not on the outside. One has better hands and the other slightly more elusive, but there's not really much difference twixt the two. Had Bess been traded instead of Cammy, I'm not sure we'd have lost much more, save for Bess STs ability, even if that is mediocre. But to unequivocally proclaim that "He was the 4th most talented receiver on this team" is a misstatement...
