In AA I had a no hitter into the 7th, ended up with a 1 hitter. Had a couple of 3 hitters but so far without a no-no
Tossed a 2 hit Shutout - 0 walks - with CC (Yanks) over KC. Thats been as close....whats funny, is I usually give up a hit in the 1st and then can get on a roll but the no-hitter goes out the window fast
I think it's because my pitcher is around the plate too much sometimes. I give up the fewest walks in the league, am like third in strikeouts and lead in WHIP. Sometimes though a ball comes a little bit over the plate and the batter gets good wood on it, or the worst its a perfect pitch and they just flick the bat out and find a hole. Its frustrating. The fun part is I feel like a real pitcher. I'm ranked the best in my league and just like two more seasons before I can do free agency. I already turned down a 7 year 106 million dollar deal because I dont know if I want to stay with the Marlins. I love the team, but we are really sporadic and inconsistant. I want the team to prove it can win on a consistant basis before I commit to being there for 7 seasons. We've been bounced twice in the playoffs and now we arent making it this year, the team is getting worse. Its going to be a tough decision.
Thats one of my favorite "gutsy" things to try....throw a pitch that will be a Ball and get the batter to swing and miss....its scary especially on 3 ball counts to have the conviction....but its fun. The CPU will actually chase out of the zone on occasion - very realistic. But I think you are right....we want to throw pitches that will be in the ZONE thus decreasing swing and miss out of zone chances...but when ahead in the count, try it down low or just off the corner (ball ball 1/2)....lots of fun. Its fun too, when its a clear ball off the plate, but UMP gives you the call and batter is ticked off.
Man sometimes I have balls of steel. Throwing a slurve on a 3-2 count with the bases loaded and two outs is like the greatest feeling in the gaming world when you catch the corner. It's crazy. Then you question it when you walk the dude
Any tips on hitting? I started a franchise, I'm 4-4 and can't buy a hit with some of my players like Coghlan and Uggla. Yet Hanley is hitting 500 with an 8 game hitting streak.
Working the count is the best advice. Sometimes it's just as simple as small sample sizes and streaks. I'm sure they will start to hit sooner or later, and when they do I'm sure Hanley will start to slump.
Yeah its frustrating like real life. I score 5 runs one night, then 1 the next. Then 3. Pretty realistic.
Yeah I think I hate the umps missing balls/strikes the most about the game. I realize that they're trying to make the game realistic as possible but nothing is more frustrating when you throw a ball clearly in the strike zone, only to have the ump call it a ball and the next pitch the hitter ends up with a hit (usually it's a big hit too).
My scouts say Mike Stanton is a C potential. That's whack. Can they be WRONG? What's the point in playimng him then?
