Wow just got done watching day 1 of the North practice and this guy is a freak. Amazing first step almost unblockable. He is a undersized DT but with his quickness and size he could probably play End in a 3-4 or even OLB. I wonder what everyone's thoughts on Mitch King. I view him as a rush End but I believe he is fully capable of playing as a 3-4 end and being highly productive. Another play that jumped out at me of Day 1 was Evander Hood and Ron Brace. Brace to me fits are defense much better than Raji but thats just me.
What round is he projected to go? Maybe we can draft him for depth and eventual replacmant of Vonnie Holliday.
No idea I read on draftscout he is could be picked in rounds 2 or 3 but on Draftcountdown he is a late round pick but as a DT I don't see him as a DT in the NFL. Those are the only sites I looked at. King is explosive with a motor, I haven't seen the rest of the North practices nor the actual game but he stood out on day 1. Also I think I missed some days with both teams : / If you know where I can get the practices let me know I have 4 days worth not sure of what team.
I dont think King is a 3-4 end prospect. More of a tampa two tackle to me. I dont think he is a guy that you ask to try to maintain gaps.
Really he shows some strong technique understands how to use his hands I think he can. We'll see though I haven't seen enough out of him.
The guy is a competitor no doubt, but his arms are to short for 3-4 end at about 31 inches. I dont think you would utilize him best by having him control gaps. He is more of a one gap penetrator to me or more of a situational rush DT as of right now.
He is a 4-3 DT that will hunt the QB all game much like a Warren Sapp, but no where near as good. He is not a space eater and that's what you need to be to play on a 3-4 line. Bill like's his DE's around 6'5-6'6 300lbs. http://www.draftcountdown.com/scoutingreports/dt/Mitch-King.php that's every thing you don't want in a 3-4 guy. Any time you hear people talking about this or that guy being to small to play as a 4-3 DT then he is to small to play any where on a 3-4 line as well.
Exactly. I think the shortest he drafted recently was Marcus Spears at 6-4 and Lionel Dotson at 6-4 as well.
What is King though? He's what, 6'1? 280. People are saying he's a 3-4 end - not at 6'1 he isn't. A 3-4 OLB? Don't think so. I think he could only be a 4-3 DT for someone like Indy.
