Aren't we all glad we passed on Gronkowski for Misi?

I sure am, we were told that "oh Misi will develop into a passrusher" after not being one at Utah..

Good job Ireland, but hey, technically he can still develop...

Hated the pick from day one. He's been a man without a role since he got here.

Hes a great fit for a 43 SOLB. He does a lot of things well, and is a good player... he just isnt a 34 WOLB edge rushing demon.

But that doesnt mean he cant/wont be a very productive player for us. We just need to use him differently...

I too wanted Hernandez. The pot didnt scare me...

But John Jerry actually looked pretty damn good this year after his horrific rookie season. I think Jerry ends up starting at RG or RT for us this coming season.

As much as some people on this site hate Ireland.

If we do go to a 4-3, Misi will earn his keep.

A 2-down run linebacker isn't particularly cost-effective for a 2nd round pick, but it's not in any sense an extravagant waste.

It's very popular to turn players like Misi into a 4-3 SOLBs. He already had the highest % of passing-down snaps in coverage last year among starter/sub 3-4 OLBs. He's essentially already a "true" linebacker.

I don't think it'd be all that crazy to see him playing DE either.

I wanted Gronk, posted a lot of info on that guy, thought he would be right where he is today..

On a positive front...Jason Taylor really thinks that Misi has a bright future.

Ya know, we could have a couple of players that suddenly are 'useful'....Misi as the SOLB as was mentioned could be productive for us in a more traditional 4-3. Thomas, used as a one-cut, zone-blocking type back would seem to flourish for us. Bush, for all the complaints (including my own biatching about him), has turned into a guy that can run it up the middle and can catch the ball out of muli-formations that Philbin could really game plan around. Fasano, while not a seam buster and certainly a guy that is maligned amongst fans, could be utilized in short crossing patterns with Bush and be either a decoy or be on the receiving end of a lot of passes, something that has certainly not been done here before.

I'm sure there are others too, but we'll have to more wait and see stuff. Wait and see who they target in FA. Wait and see who they target in the draft, etc....It's going to be different for us. With the old regime, their cast was died...we knew much easier who they'd target...

i hope we dont cut Misi and then turn around and draft another player athis position. this yaer I want either that cb from lsu or WR JUSTIN BLACKMON and team him up with marshall but iam just dreaming especially with adding Blackmon .

it would be out of sight , if we traded up got Blackmon sign Matt Flynn and add a tightend , two olinemen one being Adcock .

My guess is that if Ireland believes Dansby is a Mike in a 4-3... then you'd likely see Burnett as the Will and Misi as the Sam.

Part of me would rather Dansby/Burnett switch roles in that scenario... but who knows.

Wasn't the reason we drafted misi at 40 because we didn't have a player who could cover as well

Misi would play what--- something like half our defensive snaps at 43 SOLB with nickel corner seeing the rest?

    Uhm, bro, that spells B-U-S-T

And I like Misi, and hope he can turn into a DE/LB hybrid, it's yr #3...that is not what he was drafted to do...with the second #40 overall that has produced very little for us.

Ireland needs to be called out on Misi and Jerry.

And that is the problem in a nutshell, Misi and Clay are in the same place, each "could" be something.

Graham, Hernandez, Gronk, are already something, and Clay is a late rd pick, basically a throw away pick really, Misi is a high resource pick, ditto John Jerry, THOSE are the moves that come back to haunt the Dolphins time after time too much "coulda shoulda woulda"/

Misi is the 3/4 version of Derrick Rodgers. A LB who gets alot of undeserved hype and when the game is being played, you never hear his name. He might make a few plays here and there, but overall is presence on the field is almost non-existent.

I think it's horrible to call him a bust. He's a good player who will have a role in this defense. It sucks we passed on Gronk for him, but it's time to move past that.

Misi was just another of Ireland's wasted second round picks. He has yet to hit on a single second round pick since he became the GM four years ago. The only decent second round pick he has made is Sean Smith and Smith is only a mediocre CB at best.

    I'm probably wrong.

But I don't remember Ireland or anyone from the team coming out and saying Misi was drafted for rushing the passer. I assumed (again I'm probably wrong) with the drafting of Edds, it was another one of Ireland's doubling down on a position of need, which was a coverage LB.

He played olb in a 4-3 at his senior bowl. I am sure that is where Ireland originally projected him to be. Misi did a good job in that game a couple of years ago.

It was another case of Ireland not knowing what he is doing. Edds never played a single down for the Dolphins in a regular season game before being cut and Misi has been a below average LB who can't cover or apply any pressure on the rush. So basically Ireland doubled down and came up craps.
