Because I'd think that an NFL QB, with no defense, could toss a 20 yard pass into a trash can. Remember Marino and others tossing 50 yarders into trash cans.
So accuracy in hitting your target means nothing; that's interesting. That drill has been around for a while.
Tanny has never been good at the fade. We never really had a receiver who was adept at it. Parker is pretty amazing at it and Tanny should work on it a lot more because it's easy money for Parker. BTW-Did you guys catch Gase saying that Doughty has a knack for finding the open receiver? Jimmy Johnson said the same thing about Zach Thomas having a knack for being around the ball....Just saying it reminded me of JJ's comments.
I think you need to go back a little further in history for the most accurate straight line comparison (talent aside). That very same thing about throwing to someone who was not the focal point of the play for completions etc., is exactly what was said about and by Marino. Marino did say he just threw the ball to he guy who was open. Simple, but very god damn effective if you ask me. Things like that always spark my interest, as they are latent; they are no taught by coaches. I coach a couple of different sports or have done in my time, and one thing you can pick out quickly are the kids who do things without being taught; the natural talent that just comes out.
I've coached too and it is amazing how some are just good at such an early age. I remember one little kid was like 6, coaching him in baseball, he was making diving catches and stuff, it was crazy.
