As long as there is no threat of lighting, they will. I could see them sometimes opting out of some though just to reduce risk of injury (losing footing and blowing out a knee, etc). But they absolutely aren't running from heat/sunshine...
Based on this thread, I would think jarvis landry was our only wr. Does he do this, can he do that. He'll struggle with blah, and he'll blah with blahblah. For this year anyway, landry is simply a cog in the machine that is wallace, clay, hartline, gibson, landry, mathews. if he has deficiencies, theyll be hard to spot given his role on the team
The guy everyone should be paying attention to is Matt Hazel. The Landry pick was grossly irresponsible considering the other needs, but Hazel will stick, and he may end up starting at some point in 2015.
if he can legitimately beat out Rishard Matthews, Brandon Gibson or even Armon Binns then he will be quite a steal for Hickey.
Keep seeing little glimpses of otas highlights, every time I see Landry doing something pretty cool..I saw him contort his body in a way that was very difficult, still made the catch.. Also I heard that will Davis made a miraculous defensive play, showing great timing, hands, leaping ability and body control
Looks like someone locked up a roster spot, that leaves us with Dion, Wake, Vern, Starks, Mitchell, Odrick,Shelby, what do we have two spots left? A more physical bigger Shelby,
I think more of us are concerned about the long term future of Landry. A). We spent a premium pick on him. B). Passed on other talented players after multiple trade downs. C). General history of 2nd round busts. D). Giving Tannehill all of the tools necessary to develop and evolve into a franchise QB. Given all of that, the Landry selection is a big one and is deserving of attention. I don't think picking Landry was irresponsible because of his position. I would of loved Allen Robinson without question in the 2nd round. That would've been my favorite pick by a longshot. Our WR core isn't nearly in as good of shape as some want to believe... Various issues like scheme, technique, and injury problems plagued our offense last year. Honestly, without Charles Clay stepping up, the receiving core wasn't significantly improved from the previous year. Hope Hazel pans out. Would be a great steal for us if he does.
Just based on college stuff and what we've see from our pros, I don't know how hazel makes the team..unless he beats out. Binns who's having great OTA's, and or Matthews if he's really in the doghouse.
This is just crazy talk. Wallace hartline and Gibson/Mathews were gods in comparison to hartline, bess, and naanee
Assuming Shelby makes the roster, I could see the DL be the position group where we may carry an extra player or two like with the DBs last year. Though for different reasons. Also been good reports about Anthony Johnson, and we saw what A.J. Francis did last year. We have seen some good reports on Fede. How do you cut him? 9 DL seems like a real possibility this year, and perhaps 10. The 53 man roster could be something like this: QB - 3 RB - 4 TE - 4 WR- 5 OL - 8 DL - 10 LB - 7 DB - 9 Specialists - 3.
Matt Hazel is intriguing. I never really got around to doing a significant workup on him. I saw him play in the FCS playoffs and he certainly grabbed my attention. But when you're looking at an FCS player you really have to do a lot of work on them to get your arms wrapped around whether this is real NFL talent because players can be dominant at that level and be nothing at the NFL level. Your eyes can fool you easily at the FCS level on first pass. But he was one of those guys I kept hearing about over and over again from some of my friends in the industry who had actually done the work on him.
I have to watch four tapes of Jarvis Landry in order to come up with a single instance of him running an NFL route against a real corner on the perimeter in man coverage and getting open for the catch. Literally. To be fair I saw it twice in four tapes, but one was just a quick slant. The other was an actual comeback. But in just one tape of Matt Hazel going up against South Carolina I've found two instances of him doing this: (Time Index - 0:50) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2SoDFkn7N4w&feature=player_embedded#t=50 Matt Hazel was manned up on the outside against Victor Hampton, a draftable corner who went undrafted and is currently with the Cincinnati Bengals. Hampton gave him about 8 yards of cushion which is better than the 10 yards of cushion I most often saw against LSU. He runs a damn nice out route, is open and finishes the catch with the toe tap. (Time Index - 2:21) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2SoDFkn7N4w&feature=player_embedded#t=141 Here he is against Hampton again, this time Hampton playing press coverage. Hazel does an excellent job creating the throwing window on this back shoulder throw and comes down with the physically challenging catch for a first down. Just one tape and you can find two instances of beating man coverage against an NFL caliber corner. You have to sift through a lot of tape of Jarvis Landry to find that.
