The deal is a hell of a lot less than his brother got (yay) Per PFT: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/07/30/fins-agree-to-terms-with-pouncey/ A year after Maurkice Pouncey entered the league as the 18th pick in round one and became a star with the Steelers, his twin brother Mike has officially become an NFL player, by agreeing to terms with the Dolphins. Per a league source, the technically elder (by a minute) Pouncey has a deal in place, as the 15th pick. Though Mike was drafted higher than Maurkice, Mike will make a lot less, with a four-year deal in the range of $9.2 million. Maurkice signed for five years and nearly $19 million, despite going three spots lower. Rookie wage scale under the new CBA probably pissed Mike off.
How did Omar miss tweeting about this? Oh, that's right, it doesn't involve a player's personal life, and personal gain for Omar.
Building through the draft instead of free agency just got even more important, for that very reason. Now's the time to trade vets for future picks.
Seems like Omar, at times, has nothing on his mind than to try to be something he is not - an insider. I knew that Pounceys signing would be today, his twin signed a year ago - TODAY.
In another thread, someone said that all the rookie contracts are guaranteed now, so perhaps Maurkice didn't get a whole lot more guaranteed money than Mike did.
