Story still developing but based on this http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/bowls09/news/story?id=4776848 and the 1230 edition of college football tonight there seems to be separate versions of the story. The player, Adam James, son of former running back Craig James said that he was locked in a trainers room, in darkness and forced to stand without leaning or squatting for 3 hours. Leach said he was given ice. How that validates it as excusable I don't know but that is a different story. Then James said he was not allowed to practice the following week and was locked in an electrical room which Leach claims was really a media room and again was forced to stand and given ice. Mike Leach is in deep doo doo for making two stupid decisions.
Light is bad for a player with a concussion so I understand the darkroom. I really dont see much to this story. I think Leach did very little wrong and I have heard/seen much worse.
It's odd to me. It's like the coach locked the kid in solitary confinement for 3 hours at a time ... fine to have him in the dark if he has a concussion but why make him stand? There's more to this story, no doubt.
Apparently Texas Tech is going to attempt to fire Leach. Whoever gets Leach is going to get one helluva coach IMO.
Yup hes been temporarily suspended and has hired an attorney. He wants to coach te bowl game apparently and feels he is being suspended unjustly.
