What happened to McDaniels offense in the 2nd half with a 10 point lead in one of the most important games of the season?

Seems like if he was an offense guru with one of the best OL’s in the NFL with one of the best TE’s, best WR’s and a top 10 rusher he could have mustered a FG or TD in almost 2 quarters to win the game.

Hows he going to help with the worst OL in football, no Deebo Samuel, no Kittle and no legitimate RB with a mediocre GM at best?

Well if he can’t figure out a way to scheme around one player(and I know he’s the best of the best)we’re not going to have a chance against Judon, Watt, Garrett or Hendrickson. Guess we better get used to not making the playoffs or losing in the first round.

Indeed. I was giving this some thought. It might sound 'noble' that Ross is willing to sacrifice for his alma mater but the Dolphins aren't someone else's team. They're his team. Everyone is depending on him. And if doesn't like the idea that 'his' college should be worse off as a football team, how can we like the idea that his team is worse off? He took on this commitment and when he did it he had to have known about the relationship between college football and the NFL. It was always possible a Michigan coach or player moved to the NFL. That's how the system works. And in the event that a to coach came to his team, well that's not him personally harming Michigan, that's an NFL owner doing business in the same ecosystem.

If he would genuinely choose what's best for Michigan to the detriment of the Dolphins then I don't exaggerate when I say that he is not fit to be an NFL owner. He should sell the team and return to his other businesses and continue to invest in Michigan.

Also ot needs to be said: you sound like a real clown if you’re complaining about mcdaniel’s looks and it invalidates any point you may or may not have.

The dolphins are a hobby for him. Michigan helped make him the man he is today. I'm pretty sure thats the way he view it.

I think this line of argument is perfectly fair and valid. McDaniel is not a slam dunk for all those reasons. I took issue with the Philbin comparison. Philbin was an administrator, not a true X's and O's schemer. They're worlds apart in that respect. And while I totally get being burned out on trying to find the next "genius" type, I take comfort in knowing the Mike Shanahan coaching tree has produced the best fruit in the NFL. McDaniel, more so than any of the other coaches from that tree, has been the Shanahan's right hand man behind the scenes for almost his entire NFL career. It's all a hope and prayer at this point no matter who we get as our next coach.

Think about it this way. Flores’ downfall was a lack of collaboration and a power grab. Grier managed to fight that one off because he retains the ear of Ross. If Grier wants to retain his position and power, he will push for a first time head coach because they don’t tend to be given much power and influence until they’ve earned a greater say. I'd agree with this, the dude has the UM Business School named after him and he's one of the biggest donors to the school and athletics. He probably feels his contributions to UM are as big or bigger part of his legacy as owning a sports team.

As for Harbaugh, he's going for interview #2 with the Vikes tomorrow (unless he gets snowed in here lol) and the local media is mostly saying that a coach with a Super Bowl appearance on his resume doesn't go for a second interview and leave without an offer. Also, the fact that it's on college National Signing Day is raising eyebrows.

I honestly think the next head coach is going to be Brian Flores. But he'll also be the GM and the owner.

Sounds like special teams coordinators will be lining up for the job after this lol

LOL, I wasn't making a joke. I could see Drake, Mayweather and other black athletes/music icons stepping up and trying to buy the Dolphins. They'd have the true poster boy in Flores as well.

Honestly at this point with the story they better hope they land McDaniels Because no one else is going to want to come to this organization in the midst of chaos and trying to rebuild and having no control over personnel
