'Phins might be going from having a HC that looked like he spent all his free time in the weight room, to one that has never been in one...LOL!!!

Not to mention, the players in San Fran hated him. There was a report during his final year, that even with a SB win, he was out no matter what. Everyone basically hated him. Players, front office, etc... It's an issue of real concern. To be clear, I'm not rooting for or against Harbaugh. I am rooting for Mike McDaniel though. Mike McDaniel has been my favorite pick from the start and would be completely happy with him as our coach. Hopefully he crushes his interview today.

Some very successful people are hard to work with. Personally I don't care as long as they can deliver. Among the HC candidates Harbaugh is one of those with a very successful record and I'd be thrilled if we somehow landed him.

McCoaching or Harbaugh, I would be fine with as long it‘s no Vance Joseph or Kellen Moore. But whomever it is they got to win me over and somehow I got the feeling we’re going to pick the wrong one yet again…

I feel like I can offer some unique insight to this. There are certain jobs that desire collaboration. Sometimes, people in those jobs may have bosses or people working below them that really do not have the knowledge required to add to the collaboration in a meaningful manner.

There are a lot of soldiers that are great at following orders... and should be left to following orders. The HC and OC may not want the WRs coach in on the game planning. Perhaps, his analysis against of opposing team's defense is weak or he tends to overestimate his own unit. A HC and OC may game plan together and decide on working a lot of intermediate routes and running multiple guys out of the slot. This same WR coach could be incredibly good at getting his unit prepared for this - good soldier/bad general.

Here is what happens more than people realize. Coaches are asked to "collaborate" with other members of the team (likely the front office in our case). What ultimately winds up happening is that these HCs (usually first year HCs) give in, and offer give and take when they shouldn't be giving in. Fast forward, and they realize that they wind up losing, the team underperformed, and they lose their job for doing something that they didn't want to do in the first place.

This is where things are different with more experienced HCs. They see the situation more for what it is. No matter what happens, they will be blamed. So if you are gonna wind up losing your job, would you rather lose it doing what you think is right or doing what someone else thinks is right. My guess is that Jim and others like him would much rather fail on their own terms.

So; again what's he responsible for? Do we have Deebo Samuels on our roster; or anyone even remotely comparable? IMO you don't hire a head coach based on his experience in being involved in the run game for an offense where the head coach is 150% all in on the offense, calls the plays, builds the plans etc. He's a younger Joe Philbin; likely to be fired in 3 years or less because he's likely nowhere near prepared to be a first time head coach. Just like Philbin. Gase. Flores. I guess though that totally fits the Stephen Ross hiring/firing pattern though. Just keep banging your head against that wall Steve... maybe we'll get lucky and he'll knock himself out cold and have to sell the team.

Deebo was only a 2nd round pick. It is not like the guy is all world Calvin Johnson type player. Lynn Bowden Jr. probably won't be as good, but he could be effective in a similar role.

Deebos Samuel is an entire NFL offense. Lynn Bowden Jr might be in the USFL next year.

We will find out, but I think you are discounting a very talented player.

And Deebos Samuel isn't an entire offense. He is a big part of it. I know Lynn Bowden Jr. believes he can play that role. It does seem built for him. Last season at times he seemed like the only wide receiver who showed up to play.

No offense; but to me this is a classic case of fans over evaluating our own players. I get the fact he's got some ability/talent and he's raw still; but he's done nothing at this point to show he's even worthy of that kind of comparison or could replicate the success that Deebo has had if McDaniel is our next HC. Intrigued to see how he factors in next year; but it's also just as likely he's not even on the final 53 next year which is why this comparison is just way off base IMO

This is a classic case of the "grass is always greener on the other side."

He might not make the team. I cannot see the future. I do think he will. I think he can play similar roles if he does take the next step.

I don't see how you say, "he's done nothing." Did you not watch him play in 2020?

He has a lot of room to grow and is a very talented player.

The question wasn't, "A player as good" it was "remotely comparable".

    He is remotely comparable.

He's not comparable at all. Bowden can throw a pass that's about it. Something tells me Samuel can even do that better than him.

Deebo isn't responsible for the run game being good. The creative use of him has just added to it which can't be used as a negative. They certainly aren't doing it off the backs of elite RB talent either.

Is he going to work out? Probably not because its Dolphins but we have no idea how prepared he would be. Its a good coaching tree and there really is no comparison to someone like Gase. That is just lazy.

Yes it is. Because in the case of Deebo versus Lynn Bowden Jr. The grass certainly is greener on the other side because Samuel is the far more talented player and likely always will be and Bowden has proven nothing that can even lump him into the same discussion; let alone to be considering him as the reason we should consider hiring McDaniel to build an offense around... Lynn Bowden Jr like they've done in SF with Samuel. Grass certainly is greener; always will be in regards to these two players and you can comfortably bet the house on that.

I don't know if you guys remember me talking several years ago about my daughter's high school team winning back to back to back state championships (they went to 5 in a row, won 3)? Guess who their RB was- Deebo. I've watched him since he was 13 and even then, he was a man playing around boys. Pure stud of an athlete and he was basically the entire offense in high school as well.

You are saying Lynn Bowden can be comparable to one of the most dynamic players in the league.

    I'm silly though.

Samuel is 5'11" 220 lbs of solid muscle.

Bowden is 5'11" 195 soaking wet.

We mentioned that yesterday as it was first breaking, but this article actually goes quite a bit deeper and alleges we had him interview in Minnesota so Ross wouldn't feel guilty for stealing him from Michigan. It also says that the front office doesn't want Harbaugh because he'll bring his own executives....which mean Grier would be out as well (or at least demoted). Vic Fangio would run the defense.

Very exciting news and I think it will actually happen...we should know in the next few days either way now that it's broken.

If he is orchestrating all that then he isn't directly hurting them. The case would have to be that he doesn't what to catch flack for doing it but with the money he donates to them nobody there is going to say a word.

The Wirfs helping him bit is just too ridiculous. That kind of speculation shouldn't be taken seriously.

Its not really a stretch. Wilf and Ross are buddies. Ross could've just asked his buddy to do him a solid and interview Harbaugh. That would show Harbaugh's intent to get back to the NFL. This gives Ross the avenue to then step in and get Harbaugh while staying true to his word; he can get his guys and still show his loyalty to Michigan.

Well; that escalated quickly. Who said anything about the fact that he sucks because he's a dolphin? Who said he sucks at all? Way to take it to a pointless extreme. Not sure why the attitude; as you're the one trying to compare Deebo Samuel to Lynn Bowden Jr; but ok. I readily admitted Bowden has talent but is raw... but you're right he sucks because he's a Dolphin :001_rolleyes: Give me a break...

There are only a few players who I do not think are comparable. Deebo Samuel is not one of them. He is not a Rob Gronkowski of his position. He is a very good player. The problem is most people look at NFL athletes and think there is a huge difference between them. There isn't that big of one. A lot of it comes down to the ability to put in the extra work and having better vision.

It is not crazy to think that Lynn Bowden Jr. could provide some of what Deebo does in their own way.

How else do we even talk about the team if we cannot compare players to each other? But just hate on me.

Nobody is hating on anyone man. Chill out and stop acting like a child ffs.

I don't really agree with the first part of your statement either. What Deebo Samuel has done this year at the RB and WR position has been impressive. Theres not many guys in this league that can do that from both positions. I do get what you're saying though that these guys are the elite of the elite athletes in the world. Systems and surrounding talent certainly has alot to do with that, and I believe SF has alot more of that than we do along the OL especially that helps Samuel hae some room and pick up next level blocks.

Nobodys hating on anyone; we just don't agree fully on the matter & that's ok. Doesn't mean anything more than a disagreement of opinion... jeez.
