http://www.miamidolphins.com/news/a...Robinson/72cbdec8-fecb-4dda-a04a-9060014b872b Figured I'd post the 1st signing of 2013. What do I win? Perhaps padre can shed some light on this move.
He was a small school POY a couple of years ago, but tbh, he did not do a whole lot in the CFL. LB iirc, good mobility etc, just nothing that would make you really notice him Honest Eval: Lots of times these small college guys wash out of the NFL camps, head up to the CFL and take their craft more seriously in terms of study and conditioning. For example Robinson ran a 40 yd best of 4.71 at 6'2 249 coming out in 09 or so, he couldn't play Lb in the CFL working with that, just to slow. Chances are good he has increased his overall on the field speed over the last couple of season and probably weighs closer to 235ish today. He'll know about zones and defending the read option, but he will have to show a lot to stick
How different is the CFL game? Spikes is an NFL starter with a 5.0 40 time. I assume it has to do with the size of the field but still doubt the impact that would have.
Field is just huge, and the hash marks were Wr's are lined up is maybe 10 yds further out than in the NFL Meaning your defenders really have to be able to motor to cover all of that space. A FS/Cb who led the league in Int's for Td's was waived b/c he "lost a step" and he was running high 4.4's Guy I wanted was Solomon Eliminian, he was something like Ray Lewis in the CFL
Any word on that G from Hamilton, I think his name was Brian Simmons? Believe he played college ball at Oklahoma and was there when they had Phil Loadholt, or shortly thereafter. Miami was talking to him earlier this offseason and I could have sworn they worked him out.
I don't see it out of this guy. They could just be looking for cheap depth at LB. This guy hasn't done crap since college including the CFL. Kraken rocked the CFL while he was there.
More or less, a guy who plays at a high level in the CFL usually can play at a good level in the NFL.
Eh, also need camp bodies, physically he can play it's just w/o that resume it is hard to get meaningful reps to show what you can do. Pity Chuck Smith no longer has that pass rushing camp.
Eh, just saying that in the NFL there definitely are guys that are signed to be those camp bodies as a favor, either to an agent or to someone else.
