The Bulls are built as a defensive team. They need someone like Beasley to dominate on the other side of the court. Put him in at PF, let him do his thing. The other 4 guys will protect the lead and get him the ball.

Just Hinrich. Gordon's not a point guard in any sense of the word. He's a shoot-first, shoot-some-more, and if anyone's open after he's had his 20 shots, maybe he'll pass the ball kind of guy.

In fact, I have an awesome armored suit, am worth a few zillion bucks, and am nailing Rose McGowan. So...yeah, good call.

What's the alternative? Tanking is already a problem in the NBA. Getting rid of the lottery would make it 10x worse.

  7. Blasphemy! Bulls screwed us again!

As I was watching D-Wade's reaction, it's the only one he could've had to be honest. Either way the Heat will be getting a much needed player. If they get Rose then maybe you guys can throw away the washed up Jason Williams.

Yea I think so too, the 9th worst team has no business being able to get to number one.

Why is it that when they do team intros, the visiting team usually gets cooler music? The Pistons get "Kashmir", the Celtics get...well, I have no earthly idea what that was. And honestly, I don't think it gets cooler than the Spurs playing the Undertaker theme for the visitors. I remember in the Finals, Rasheed Wallace ate that up with a spoon and came back for seconds.

Oh, and if Kevin Garnett put as much intensity into his low-post play as he did into yelling at the camera for the intros, he'd already have a ring. Just saying.

Ive never bought into the tanking theory to be honest. I dont see professional athletes intentionally throwing in the towel so their team gets a high draft pick. If they had that mentality they wouldn't have made it to the NBA in the first place IMO.

Can coaches sit there starters and call up a D-League team ala the Heat this year? I suppose. I still dont like it. Not just because the Heat got the #2, Ive always hated the lottery.

The Heat this last year are proof it happens imo. Whether the players were in on it or it was just management/coaching either way you get the same result.

Oh, and the Clippers were supposed to win the lottery! '88, '98, '08, wtf happened!?!

They did have alot of injuries. Wade could have played and willed them to a few more games Im sure. But Shaq, Udonis, Zo, J-dub for part of the year...

Ive seen bigger tank jobs than that. The Celtics last year were worse IMO.

As soon as the Bulls skipped, I knew they were going to get the 1st pick. Aside from Memphis, there couldn't be a better #1 in front of #2 Miami if we're targeting Rose. Memphis, obviously, would opt for Beasley, and I see Chicago going through a 50/50 type of situation right now. While Derrick Rose is the hometown hero and obviously would stamp the PG position for the next 10-15 years, when was the last time Chicago had an inside presence?

Sitting at #2 is a fine spot, IMO. This is the first time in my life I'm down for sloppy seconds.

So, what if Chicago takes Rose--or somehow trades the pick to a team that takes Rose? Do we take Beasley, do we trade out for a point guard? There are so many ways this can unfold.

    Thanks, man.

I don't see Miami moving the pick at all. This is gold for us. Rose or Beasley - losing is not an option, IMO. I have had equal grades on both the past year, but Rose has been my preference as solidifying the PG spot with such a great talent is a grand opportunity. Still, I am content with sloppy seconds in this situation. It doesn't matter who Chicago selects to me.

Btw, Chad Ford's first mock is already up -

    1. Chicago - Beasley
    2. Miami - Rose
    3. Minnesota - Lopez (YIKES!!!!!!!)

Let the debating begin. All the Heat can do is sit back and choose the leftover, lol.

Well, if you're a Heat fan, you got a front row seat to tanking. They might as well have put a 42 cent stamp on the last quarter of the season. Are the players intentionally throwing in the towel? No, I don't think so, but late in the season, you'll see good players and regular starters sidelined with mythical ailments when bad teams are nearing a more advantageous draft slot. It's not the players making the calls, it's the front office, telling the coach "commence Operation: Get Beasley".

    Beasley at the 5?

He is a power forward at best in the NBA.

Well..I am very happy. beasley is a lock at #1....Welcome to Miami Mr. Rose!

  24. phunwin

If you have no preference between the two guys, it may be better to pick second. For one, the salary is a tad lower. For another, so many NBA players thrive on that "I shoulda been #1" mentality to the point that they're constantly trying to prove themselves.

  25. phunwin

He's far from an ideal fit at the 5, but look at the rest of that Chicago roster and find me a real center. I think Beasley presents a better option than stick-figure Joakim Noah.

Udonis Haslem complicates this. Haslem's situated at PF and isn't going away any time soon. While Beasley is the better talent over Rose, Rose fills a bigger need for the Heat. I think the preference if you're a Heat fan is that Chicago takes Beasley and Miami takes Rose.

And then Miami takes the #1 playoff seed next year.

If I absolutely had to choose between the two, I'd obviously go for Rose. However, I don't think Udonis Haslem is as safe as he seems. He has a favorable contract and would be absolutely easy to move if necessary. On the flip side, I prefer Haslem as a backup PF, especially if our center isn't a big inside threat. His energy and hustle could be huge coming off the bench.

Shawn Marion is the guy in question, IMO. I can't imagine Marcus Banks starting at PG. If Beasley is the pick, then we're going to make a move for a PG. I know we will. And, it will require either Marion or Haslem.

That's why Derrick Rose makes things so much easier.

Honestly though Timberwolves always get tehe **** end of the stick. They need a true Point (Rose), They could've went with Beasley and moved Jefferson at Center.

    T-Wolves starting 5

    Lopez
    Jefferson
    Gomes
    McCants
    Foye

You are right..they have nobody but the but sweat stains of Eddie Curry on that bench.

But Beasley is a guy that I have watched this year like a religion..and he couldn't play center in the NBA if his life depended on it.

Udonis Haslem at times has played center for the Heat and succesfully at times...but he does it by basically fouling his man and basically starting a war int he post. "WAR" is not in beasley's makeup.

he is a fabulous post player that could dominate eventually at the PF spot. His game is a skill/finesse game.

Rose ont he other hand has a power game that would fit in our scheme beautifully. He can get ot the line and apply pressure on the opposing teams backcourt..especially when he is gonna have a wing player like Marion and a scorer like Wade.

Next season..we make noise...the following season,...we Add Carlos Boozer...and voila..back in the conversation. But mark my words..we are gonna make some team **** the bed in the postseason.

Honestly, the BPA will be Bayless or Mayo. I view Randy Foye more as an undersized 2-guard. Lopez, however, is a nice fit as you can slot him in at the 5 with Jefferson manning the 4, but there's just something about Brook Lopez that disturbs me. I've seen him play many times and just can't put my hands around what it is.

    He is stiff legged.

    Like Brad Miller...except he doesn't have Miller's 15 footer.

he has problems elevating quickly...which makes him a foul candidate and not much of a shot blocking presence.

BTW KING..what is going on with DeAndre Jordan?

Is he really gonna go top 10 like I am hearing? That kid is gonna be special. I don't remember the last time I saw a 7 footer run like him.

Honestly Foye is a SG but management is to stupid to realise this. Right now I would Pick Lopez and adress Point with 1 of the 3 picks in round 2.

  35. phunwin

phunwin Happy kids are Dolfans. Luxury Box

I think the problem with Lopez is that he just doesn't strike me as the kind of guy who has any business whatsoever going 3rd in the draft. In a just and fair world, you'd look at him as a late lottery pick. He's a fundamentally sound player, he's plenty big enough (7', 250#), can score in the low post, and can hit a jump shot from 10 feet away. But, he doesn't have really impressive athleticism, and he doesn't have one skill that just jumps out of the TV at you. He's probably a half-step above Roy Hibbert in the "true center" department in this draft. And no, that's not necessarily a compliment.

  36. phunwin

phunwin Happy kids are Dolfans. Luxury Box

That's a pretty good description. I don't think he's quite as bad off as you imply, but I can see that being a problem.

Roy Hibbert, on the other hand...he's going to be an absolute foul machine in the pros. He should have come out last year or the year before. Four years in college showed minimal improvement after his sophomore year, and none after his junior year, and just allowed scouts to look at him and figure out that he is S.....L......O.......W.......

have you seen DeAndre Jordan play? Kid is a freakazoid. He has like no basketball skills whatsoever...but is about as good an athlete as I have seen..at 7'-0" 260 pounds. Better athlete than SHAQ was coming out of LSU.

    YEAH..I said that.

The kid made a horrific decision on his part. DeAndre Jordan simply never adapted to Texas A&M's system, and it was a given from the start of the season that he wouldn't. I mean, there were some games where he didn't even sniff 20 minutes, sadly. I still think he's a remarkable talent. I've compared him to Andrew Bynum for quite some time now, and I'll stick by that comparison.

If he falls into the right situation, some team should be lucky to land him at the bottom of the lottery. Well, unless he's a workout warrior and shoots up, which I would actually bank on.........
