A few thoughts on what has happened and how it hits home:

    • If Emeka Okafor can get $12 million a year from Charlotte over six years, then better there than here. Question: Is Okafor a guaranteed All-Star, or might he go the entire $72 million without a single midseason berth? When you start spending near-max money on anything but elite talent, that's where you get into trouble.
    • Saw a report where the Heat was linked to sign-and-trade overtures for Cavaliers restricted free agent Delonte West. Considering the Heat's position against the luxury tax, West would appear a luxury better left to others. West hardly proved to be a difference-maker in Cleveland's postseason run and barely was a rotation player for a not-very-good Seattle team.
    • The dealing of Renaldo Balkman from the Knicks to the Nuggets could be the start of the excising of those from the Isiah Thomas era in New York, similar to how Thomas moved to clear out those from the Scott Layden era. The upshot is the very real possibility that Stephon Marbury becomes available via buyout before the start of training camp.
    • Michael Beasley and Mario Chalmers were scheduled Tuesday for a rookie photo shoot in New York, continuing the whirlwind offseason for both. No issue with that. But as August beckons, it is essential that Beasley gets back into the gym for a much-needed defensive tutorial. Based on his summer-league effort, it could be an extended process.
    • As long as he remains available, don't write off Michael Doleac as a minimum-salary addition for the Heat. He's a great attitude guy and his pick-and-pop approach would leave Beasley with plenty of room to operate in the post. Yes, he's only Michael Doleac. But we're also talking minimum salary.

Sad thing is, I was excited as hell when we acquired him last year. Previous years, I've also been bashing Riley for trading Davis for Gatlin years ago, calling it his "dumbest" move. :escape:

Actually, we landed Michael Beasley instead of being swept in the Playoffs by a mediocre at best basketball team. :D

Oh, and by the way.. do you guys remember that electrifying guard we had back in 2006? Haven't seen him since, but apparently, he's made his way back to playing basketball.

Who is that? I looked at him but couldn't recall who it was.

    Wade A Bull?

In the 2010 market, there will be several big names and teams pursuing them. Those names include Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh and LeBron James. Every player has already been rumored to be interested in teams, LeBron in NY and NJ, Bosh in the Magic and now Wade to the Chicago Bulls is being talked. Wade has never fully committed to finishing his career as a Heat and has said that " a lot can happen in the next two years". (Link)

    Jason Williams Likely Headed Overseas

Former Heat Point Guard Jason Williams is in serious discussions with Tel Aviv of the Israel league. Williams is asking for three million a year and the team is looking at 1.5 million a year. The former Heat has been told by his previous team that they may be interested in bringing him back at a discount rate that would be around $1.3 - $2 million range. (Link)

If Wade leaves Miami I will stop watching the NBA. Gonna be a bit of culture shock for a white trash, tatted up kid from West Virginia to hang out in Tel Aviv...

it is a Chicago Suntimes article. Basically it is bull****. How can "the talks" be that he would go in 2010. he is under contract. Now the "mental masturbation" in Chicago could be that they want him...that is the truth.

The theory goes that LeFraud is target #1 and Wade is the alternative.

The backup plan had better be to shoot themselves, because if they're banking on the 2010 free agency period to land their franchise player, they've got something else coming.

Yeah, like the Miami Heat having more cap space than any team in the league.

These Chicago clowns really don't think things through.

Kobe is still better. But Wade is closing in on him...

    I LOVED reading this:
Wade is a good defender... but if he can get Kobe-good... that would be amazing.

Check out how the entire bench gets up. It reminds me of the audience reaction to Vince Carter at the slam dunk competition.

I dont think I've ever seen a player on the court so fast as to make all the others look like they're in slow-mo as Wade does. Could anyone in the NBA take this guy in a foot race?

I was thinking that as well HardKore. I was watching the highlights vs the Aussies. He made a couple of steals and was far ahead of the Aussies. He's such an amazing talent.
