    Heat Forced To Play Small?

One executive of a rival team stated that the Heat should play small ball because the available centers are bad. The executive stated they'd be better off with an undersized line that includes Haslem, top pick Beasley and Shawn Marion. 'Is it conventional? No,'' coach Erik Spoelstra said. But ''teams have gone in the direction of playing smaller.'' The Heat are also open to a sign and trade deal for Dorell Wright. (Link)

It's certainly an option at this point unless Joel Anthony goes ape **** in camp/preseason.

He was on the team last year. Just an average/mediocre player. Really, nothing special at all. I'd have him on my team only just to fill up the bench.

Wade is looking top notch health wise. Seems to be the most he's had out of his athletic ability since the injury in 2007 -- that is HUGE. Raising up for dunks, contesting shots, getting out on the run (in FLASH manner), even shooting three's.

Kobe & Wade are killing it right now. When Bron gets back, Kidd needs to hit the bench.

I'd give up Haslem for Williams any day of the week. Any hour. Any minute. Any second.

I'm puzzled as to way New Jersey is actively trying to move the guy for basically nothing. I could see if he was a chip to get a team to take on Swift's contract, but Swift expires after this season. What gives? I wonder if Sean Williams is back on the pipe (weed).

I agree. I think they're dumb for trying to move Williams. If he is having character issues then give him counseling or something. He's a good player, they need him imo.

    also:

    Heat Re-Sign Anthony

The Miami Heat have re-signed Center Joel Anthony. Anthony will make $711,517 for the upcoming season. (link)

i don't think he ever stopped smoking.

but i think its cuz they have enough bigs now. they traded jefferson for yi, and drafted brook lopez...

why do they need him? brook lopez is very good on defense and brings offense, while williams doesn't bring much offense...and they obviously like yi more than him, which is understandable yi is still a top prospect and a high lottery pick

edit: not to mention kyrsitc and collins still

Brook Lopez is still going to be adjusting to the NBA level. Williams their only big man defender. The guy is a VERY good defender. Brings athleticism and shot blocking to the position. Yi is a typical soft Asian player. Nenad Krstic isn't likely going to be back and Swift is probably on the outs anyways.

EDIT: Just saw your edit. Nachbar left for overseas. I am not sure if Collins is still on the team. If he is, he's always in foul trouble and is just a big body.

they obviously have a log jam of bigs...so why not take a guy who is one-dimensional, character issues, and pretty good value and trade him? they already got "their" guys for the future in lopez and yi

They have eight forwards/centers on the team. Yi, Wiliams, Lopez, Swift, Krstic, Najera, Boone and Anderson. Anderson and Lopez are rookies. Yi is a soft defender. Krstic and Swift are on the outs. Najera is a solid bench guy that is an undersized 4 (if they play him there). Is Boone more than a bench?

That leaves two unproven guys, an offensive forward, two bench players and a defender in Williams. That's six total. Count possible injuries this season and they could be down to 5 or possibly 4 big men. (Najera has never played a full season.)

Brook Lopez needs a defensive minded big next to him, that's for certain. Yi on the other hand, well, he sucks, IMO. He's never going to be anything more than an average softy who is absolute garbage defensively. If I had the option of trading for Yi & Sean Williams, I'd actually take Williams. Yi sucks....

Great News: Ricky Davis has signed a multi-year contract with the Clippers.

    Good riddance, you POS!

(I know that his chances of returning were unlikely, but confirmation sure is sweet)

I think you in the wrong thread D LOL.

Also, why do you guys want me to be a Heat fan? Just because I post in here and I post news and Wade is one of my most liked players doesn't mean I could be a Heat fan.

Hey...I will be the first to admit that Ricky Davis is a skilled athlete. A very talented scorer. Very gifted physically.

But he guy can **** up a cup of coffee.

If there is such a thing as a cancer, he is it. he absolutely screws up the on court chemistry by just showing up.

he lost at least 20 games for us last year single handed with bonehead plays and poor shot selection.

    thank god he is gone.
