Are Derek Fisher & Rajon Rondo anything more than role players? Both players started in the Finals.

When Dwyane Wade is your SG, your PG just needs to be a nice compliment; good shooter/defender who doesn't turn the ball over. That's what Chalmers brings to the table. We're excited about getting a potential "perfect fit" next to Wade in the second round of the NBA Draft. I don't think anyone is depending on Chalmers even having the potential to be a standout player. Chalmers is a PG's James Posey. Don't think you need anything better next to Dwyane Wade in the back court.

Fisher always struck me as a starting-caliber guy. He had a good season. Rondo had the benefit of the Boston Three Party.

Then he should start next to Wade. It doesn't sound like he will.

This is shocking. I thought Brand would opt in for sure, and hit the market next summer. Please don't start the Michael Beasley rumors again, Chad Ford, you ****ing prick.

Hate to say this because I know you don't want to hear it but there is speculation that Riley still may trade Beasley.

There was speculation to that effect before the draft, too. It's because Beasley isn't a standard Riley pick. Spoelstra and Wade want Beasley, so I think Riley will listen.

Yeah I don't blame them to be honest. He's one hell of a talent. It was just brought up by Chad Ford.

Can we just ignore everything Chad Ford has to say from now on?

NBA free agency is 40 minutes old. Any news yet?

Miami's Wright To Test The Waters

Dorell Wright says that he wants to come back to the Heat but is open to offers.

Other news is the Heat's possible interest in the upcoming free agents. The ones that have caught the Heats eye are Orlando point guard Carlos Arroyo, Minnesota's Sebastion Telfair and New Orleans Jannero Pargo.

Among the Heats unrestricted free agents is Ricky Davis, Jason Williams, Alonzo Mourning, Earl Barron and Blake Ahearn. Out of all the listed, only two are possibly expected back, those two being Mourning and Ricky Davis.

    Link.

As I stated in the NBA thread, all the information that I post is all summarized due to articles being lengthy and much information that is basic and not necessary.

Is he an URFA? Do we have a choice whether he comes back or not?

Ricky Davis is sticking because the UFA market stinks and the 2008-09 season is the last year on his contract. Like Marion, he comes clean off the books after this coming season. Just in time to make a run at Carlos Boozer. (Or is he on the market now? If so, let's get a sign and trade going with Boozer and Marion.)

I agree. I believe Boozer hasn't made a decision on his future with the Jazz. He has until the ninth of this month to decide that if I'm not mistaken.

Cant we just buy out his contract and get rid of him? How does that work with the NBA cap?

He's an URFA. I believe they can match offers that are made to Davis.

I would prefer a Beasley/Brand/Wade combo for sure. I don't know if im liking the idea of trading beasley even if its for brand

I hope Riley isn't harboring any man-love for Elton Brand. We need Boozer, not Brand, and I don't want to wait until 2010 to get a shot at Chris Bosh.

I'd rather use him as fodder in a potential sign and trade for Boozer.

Yeah, they don't have to bring back any of these. Riley was asked about Davis' situation and he said he doesn't really know. He said he didn't have a "feel" for his situation. The names i mentioned earlier are all URFA's. If any of the names come back, it is likely Zo' and Davis but I wouldn't bank on either of the two in a Heat uniform next season. They are questioning Zo's health and they don't want to pay Davis any money. When I stated earlier that them two are expected back, that was the journalists words. He say he expects them back. Personally, I see maybe Zo' back but not Davis.

One thing I forgot to mention is that the Heat are strongly going after Center DeSagana Diop. The Heat and the Mavs are expected to battle it out for him.

Let's not forget that Brand is coming off injury.

And just as in 2006, we should beat them again. If I'm Diop, I'm liking Miami better than Dallas.

That's really the worst-case scenario. If the player's on the roster, you can at least trade him elsewhere, and try to clear cap space that way. But by buying out the remainder of his contract, he stays on your cap and you don't even get to trade him. You're better off simply sending the guy home and saying "you're not playing for us anymore. Just cash your check and enjoy it."

Yeah, I don't think you will see Brand come here anyways, especially with Davis verbally agreeing with the Clippers.

I agree, Diop should go to Miami because I think Dallas is going downhill and probably has a better chance to start in Miami.

If Diop comes here, the starting center job is his to lose. I don't see any other reason he'd sign otherwise. As long as he can play defense and let Wade, Marion, and Beasley score the points, he's worth the money.

    Miami Herald:

Please sign Patrick O'Bryant for cheap and coach him up. Let Alonzo Mourning show that kid the ropes. He has all the talent in the world to be a legit starting caliber center in this league, but Nellie hated him for whatever reason. The impression I received from GSW fans is that P.O.B. would have been a solid player if given the chance, based on what they've seen from him otherwise.

James Jones & Lue for the mid-level split would be OK with me, w/ P.O.B. for the LLE or minimum.

I'd prefer Duhon, though. Not too sure how interested we are.

EDIT: Giving Diop the full mid-level <<<<<<<<< _____________.

Its only the first day and you can't make any official signings till July 9th. I think eventually they will end up with Diop and a PG. Aside from that, I don't know anything else haha.

The Heat has only been linked to Diop, which means Riley is largely avoiding a poor FA market. I expect he's working more on trades than on free agents.

Getting a defensively capable center is really all we need. I'd love to see a deal where Marion and some other pieces are sent to Utah for Carlos Boozer. Hell, if Mickey Arison would go over the luxury for once in his life, we should just sign Boozer outright.

Corey maggette is out there ready to take the MLE exemption from the Spurs.

We should at least explore it..because he would complete our scoring rotation.

  40. phunwin

phunwin Happy kids are Dolfans. Luxury Box

I'm surprised more teams aren't in on Maggette (Detroit is another that could really use him, but they're not making an offer). It sounds like just the Spurs, Magic and Celtics are offering him the MLE. He really got screwed by Baron Davis opting out and going to the Clips. With a sign and trade, he could have made a lot more, but now that they're going to renounce his rights, he's probably stuck picking from a bunch of MLE offers.

If he's smart, he might do well to take a one year MLE deal and re-enter the market next year when there are more teams that can pay him big money.
