Not sure how great our D would be, but how exciting would this team be with Beasley at the 5? Udonis at the 4, Marion the 3, etc.

Was Blount really that bad last year? I didnt get a ton of Miami games up here in Olrando... especially with their record as bad as it was.

When ever I saw Blount play, he wasnt amazing, but he seemed to atleast be able to shoot a little? People seem to talk about him like he is a team killer?

What did I miss last year?

He couldnt defend anyone. He Ole'd guys to the basket on many occasions. He's a nice 15 ft jumper kinda guy, but seemed overmatched under the basket at times.

We dont have Darnell Jackson anymore, so I guess we need to start looking at another big man to come off the bench.

I think the Cavs own the rights for Kaun and Jackson. They got Kaun from Seattle.

I think Udonis Haslem is definitely a goner. Marion will be tough to move with his contract, and we'd likely have to take a poor contract back in return - Riley's not going to do that. I thought it would have been ideal to move Haslem for Jerryd Bayless last night, but obviously Portland put together a decent package. Kirk Hinrich, Kyle Lowry, & Jamaal Tinsley are out there, with Tinsley being someone I'd have absolutely zero interest in.

Don't discount Riley targeting the center position more than point guard, either.

I think Chalmers is an ideal fit; great shooter/defender. What more is needed in the back court next to Dwyane Wade? Perfect compliment. I think he's a Chris Duhon type with better instincts and defensive ability.

But still an overall solid draft. Jackson had some red flags about him, we most likely wont miss him too much.

I like the beginning of this offseason, we're already more active than last year. Still, we have some holes we need to address. I dont like our frontcount, theres still too many concerns there. PG, as you mentioned, is still a concern because of lack of experience at the position. If we move Marion and/or Haslem, we better get some players of equal value or at least some promising young prospects. I think moving either would be more of a financial move if anything. And then theres the bench, IMO we had one of the worst in the NBA, we need some spot up shooters who can provide instant offense, and it wouldnt hurt bringing up a defensive specialist or two. Its going to be an interesting offseason for sure.

I couldn't disagree more. Haslem fits with this team really well off the bench. His salary is friendly as well.

Marion is the guy that is a definate goner..if not this year...he won't be extended.

I agree with most of that post, but remember that Marion is an expiring contract. I think Haslem is the odd man out, as his contract is equal to his value. Marion would probably require a 3-team deal unless we're talking Elton Brand or Carlos Boozer, which is doubtful, IMO.

Man if Tinsley was able to stay healthy throughout his career, he could one of the better point guards. That said, he has character issues and the injury history, I would hope no one has interest in him lol.

What were the red flags on him? I haven't heard anything on him. I know his teammate Dorell Arthur had the whole kidney thing going on.

He's a good offensive player. He needs defensive help.

Beasley conference call on ESPN News.

When asked if he's spoken to Wade yet, he said, "I'm not in his Fav 5 yet, but hopefully I will be soon because I want some of those footsies Charles Barkley was talking about."

You guys have Blount. I'm not sure how much he can do for you guys as I haven't seen much of him to be honest. I still think you guys could go after Diop as mentioned previously.

    Hey, nothing wrong with that.

Diop seems to be the consensus top choice amongst fans on the Heat message boards. I like his energy and think he could be a nice addition to the starting lineup.

The Chalmer trade? Well..Riley really had to have naked pictures of McHale with Danny Ainge because that was highway robbery.

We trade 2 of our 3 picks in the 2nd round in 09' and then got one back for Jackson...so our leverage is intact for next season in the second round.

I got these guys as guys we should be looking into as FA's:

    Chris Duhon PG
    James Jones SF
    JAMES POSEY SF
    Juan Dixon SG
    Mickael Pietrus SF
    Matt Barnes PG/SG
    Kareem Rush SF/SG
    DeSagana Diop C
    Jannero Pargo PG
    Keyon Dooling PG
    Kurt Thomas PF/C

    All of those are unrestricted.

These guys we need to explore (longshots):

    Emeka Okafor C (Restricted)
    Ron Artest SF
    Daniel Gibson SG (Restricted)
    Josh Smith SF/PF (Restricted)

There are talks that the Pistons are interested in acquiring Josh Smith in a sign-and-trade deal with Atlanta.

Well he was suspended for taking money from a booster, but I dotn think its really an issue. My problem with Jackson is he was a liability when handling the ball in the paint. I watched a few Kansas games, he was a solid offensive player, but he wasnt much of a scorer overall, more of a third option, and he was also a liability on defense.

Solid list aside from Juan Dixon and Kareem Rush.

Most people won't like this statement, but Kwame Brown should be added. He's in the same category as Diop, actually, probably a better player. Regardless of who we add via free agency, it'll be a 1 or 2 year deal anyway. 2010 seems to be Riley's target, which is why I think Marion-for-Odom is a realist trade scenario as Riley is still in love with Lamar and he expires in 2010 in which we'd then have his bird rights.

So yeah, if Miami's going to make a move besides adding one or two guys from Section's list, it'll probably be a trade for another expiring contract or at least a guy with only 2 years left. This is why I don't view Kirk Hinrich as a realistic option unless Blount or Haslem is included. One interesting scenario, however, would be Miami trying to acquire Emeka Okafor or Gerald Wallace/Ray Felton using Shawn Marion. I think Charlotte is a poorly ran organization, and it'd be nice to get a steal. G-Force has been inked to Miami in the past, and he's fallen out of favor in Charlotte with his injury issues. Tried to move him on draft night.

He left because we never extended an offer to him and he got tired of waiting.

We let him go. He didn't leave us.
