As long as we grab one of those two, I'll be happy.

My thing is, you can find a decent PF/SF for half the cost of Beasely. How often does a really good PG like Rose come along? Thats why Im bias towards Rose.

If Riley is not sold on Beasley and is sold on moving him, would you bite on this offer:

Kevin Love (#5), Mike Conley, Mike Miller for Michael Beasley (#2), Mark Blount?

Similar deal to what Chad Ford alluded to on Sports Center, albeit the fact that he's an idiot.

I added Mike Miller & Mark Blount due to previous rumors, and it'd only be fair.

    G - Mike Conley
    G - Dwyane Wade
    F - Shawn Marion
    F - Udonis Haslem
    C - Kevin Love/Alonzo Mourning

    6th man - Mike Miller

That post presence is horrible. Not too sure how talented that lineup is, either.

Hopefully, there's no way in hell that we move Beasley either. I usually trust Riley, but not in this case. He seems like the type who would make a move just to stay active and avoid Chicago's "left overs" - Miami shouldn't even be on the phones right now unless discussing players on the current roster. Beasley should be untouchable, period.

Also, how the **** did Chris Broussard get a job w/ ESPN?

Definitely. For one we need to find a point guard if we draft Beasley.

A few years ago, sure. But now, after that injury, and with a few more years on him? Not sure I'd want him, especially if Carlos Boozer and/or Chris Bosh want to come to Miami.

Did anyone really think he was going to opt out? I mean where else is he going to get 17.8 MIL?? The bigger question is, does the Heat resign him or try to trade him??

About trading Beasley, all I know is Riley's track record in trades is pretty darn good. In fact, I'd say there are not many better at it than he is. However, I am like King, hoping he is not making a move just bc his ego can't handle getting "leftovers"

Hm...what about Marion and JWill to the Lakers for Odom and Fisher? If we take Beasley of course..

    Nope.

We gotta use Marion (if we trade him) to get a all-star type. Odom is not it. We should not be in the business of handing the Lakers cap space so they can sign another star.

some recent chad ford draft notes:

in all honesty, mike miller, mike conley, and kevin love might be worth trading michael beasly. i still rather have beasly, but this trade would give us the point guard, shooter and low post presence we need. and i've always loved conley.

i still think i would keep beasley, but this is not a bad trade.

Conley is probably my second favorite PG in the NBA. If I was them, I would do that. That's a good deal. I'm not a big fan of Kevin Love but that works.

I'm just not a fan of trading Michael Beasley without getting a sure fire All-Star big man, and a young player at that. I'm talking Chris Bosh. Not even Elton Brand with those injury concerns. I feel like Beasley is going to be an All-Star player who has the chance to see his name on quite a few All-NBA lists. I'm really, really liking Michael Beasley - I've become sold over the past week or so of reading up.

If Miami makes a deal w/ the Clippers, it must include the #7 selection so that we can still land Jerryd Bayless, Russell Westbrook, or Brook Lopez. Not having a lottery selection in this year's draft should not be an option unless we're getting a Chris Bosh in return.

We're going to be able to go after big name free agents next year. Erik Spoelstra is NOT going to coach a team to the NBA Finals in 2008-2009, so all of this "right now" talk from the media is irrelevant to me. Draft Beasley. Keep Beasley. Allow Beasley to develop. I don't think the decision should be much more difficult than that. Next year we can add Elton Brand, Carlos Boozer, or Emeka Okafor to the table.

Udonis Haslem may be able to net the team a decent point guard.

For the first time in my Heat fanboyism career, I'm actually nervous of what Pat Riley is going to do with Michael Beasley (who will be the selection). Usually, I fully trust Pat Riley and whatever decision he makes, but not in this case. I'm too high on Beasley.

Best advice to ease potential headaches, though, is to ignore Chad Ford. He knows less than you and I.

I dont think we need another all-star type. We already have Wade. What we need is a good center/post presence, and better role players. We dont have either right now. Haslem is a good rebounder, but not much else. I think his game has deteriorated. I was a Haslem fan, but I think hes gotten lazier with his game.

What do you guys think about Shawn Marion for Lamar Odom & Jordan Farmar? Los Angeles has been enamored with Marion in the past, and Pat Riley obviously loves Lamar Odom. You can add Chris Mihm instead of Farmar to make it work salary wise, but I don't think Miami would do that deal. Farmar can come in and start at the PG spot in 2008.

    Heat:
    G - Jordan Farmar
    G - Dwyane Wade
    F - Lamar Odom/Michael Beasley
    F - Michael Beasley/Lamar Odom
C - Jeff Foster or Diop

    Lakers:
    G - Derek Fisher
    G - Kobe Bryant
    F - Shawn Marion
    F - Pau Gasol
    C - Andrew Bynum

You know, if we somehow trade Marion and go down to the 5-7 range, I think we should take Joe Alexander.

Disagree completely. if I could ..I would have 12 all-star types on this team.

Ask the Celtics how they feel about their 3 all-star types.

We need a second fiddle to Wade...Marion is a great 3rd option.

We need more than that. We need a defensive minded SF/swing guy..a shooter at the #3 spot..and two bruisers to play the 4 and 5.

That is not mentioning the obvious..which is a PG.

Ron Artest? You can find another good shooter and a decent post guy pretty easily. We let Kapono go but didnt replace him with anyone worthy of the shooter role. Im more inclined to somehow grabbing Derrick Rose than settling for Beasley.

I don't think Artest can be had. I think that ship has sailed.

We gotta worry about just getting Wade a sidekick for the long term and then worry about this laundry list of people we need.

    In order..we need:

A supremely talented player at any position except the #2. (Brand, Bosh, Boozer,....Beasley?)

    A PG.

    A Power rotation player.

    A shooter.

    A defensive specialist swing man.

Miami will more than likely look to acquire a PG via trade or free agency this summer, provided we don't draft one. Unless we can dump Marcus Banks' contract in a trade, he'll be on the team next year. I also think the FO likes Chris Quinn enough to keep him around for cheap. I actually think Quinn can be a decent backup PG in this league.

Jason Williams' days as a Miami Heat seem to be numbered. I'd give it a 1/5 chance he returns in 2008.

EDIT: I feel the same way about Ricky Davis' future with the team.
