ok, are you trying to tell me ryan has the pocket skillset of a marino? I want Ryan to be the best he can be, and I think that involves him understanding the element for which im talking about..I think he and the team need him to understand it, be aware of it, and execute it..
ive been consistent with my stance on ryan..Im not sold yet in terms of winning on the road in playoff conditions..not until I see what i need to see..its just my opinion..
I too think it could help his game, because it makes the defense more honest. Would love to see it, but would love MORE to see him be a deadly surgeon from the pocket. If we could get both, well then we'd be in serious business. His run for the 1st against Chicago was nice. His designed runs are nice too, but that improvisational move to keep the chains moving KILLS defenses. You have perfect coverage, you have nobody getting open, then you have to try and run half the field to stop the fkng QB from running for the 1st....killer. Cam showed that last night...he just fell a yard short.
I agree that his improvement plane can get us to the playoffs, Im talking about a championship..Im under the belief that a qb has to be able to make great individual plays moving around, changing platforms, avoiding pressure, and running for yardage in key situations to win in the playoffs...
he's really good, shifty and smart on the read option, over a 5 yard average on his career, those are serious numbers..I hope they average about 1 more carry a game on the upcoming season..last year it was 3, and of course more than a half attempt a game on his own.
He COULDN'T run...especially after the Achilles tear. I remember MANY a time I wished he'd have just ran the few yards for a first (field was usually wide open, 'cuz they knew he wouldn't run), instead of missing a play. Edit: But if Danny can have a positive impact on his pocket shifting/evasion/movement, that wouldn't hurt.
Just got Tanny in my high dollar fantasy draft....now anyone who criticizes him?? I too will jump down your throat with over optimistic excuses. (Got Parker too late, and the Def)
not sure ive seen this but conjemi said that Misi was running full speed sprints and looked really good on thursday, says he will start practice on monday...we need that dude, its obvious shepperd isnt as good as Misi..plenty of time for him to get some reps in..Im excited for his return..he shoots gaps waaaay better, drops better, tackles better.
man the elongated extra point is a dumb idea, what purpose does it serve?, to make the kicker more important in the game of football?..hate it.
They don't want to do that. They want you glued to your TV and not get an excuse to get up and miss some ads.
Should have just gotten rid of it and required teams to go for 2 every time. Much, much more exciting play.
Yeah, a TD should just be worth 7 points and you have to go for 2 which is only worth 1 pt. That way 2 field goals don't equal a TD.
I'd rather they have made the 2 mandatory. Those goal line plays are among the most exciting in football and they reward the teams that are best at . . . playing football.
are you happy that not one of the 48 is a playoff one, I think its time we take the gloves off with ryan..
Na... what you do is make it auto 7pts like you said... and then get the option to "go for 2" (which is really just worth 1pt). If you get it, you get an additional point for a total of 8. If you get stopped you lose a point for a total of 6... which keeps the scoring the same as it is currently... Either that, or you have the option to take the free 1 OR go for 2 instead... same thing... but probably a little more palatable format since you arent taking points off the board.
I really have very little desire to see all that many designed runs for Ryan, freak accidents happen...remember ARod 2 years ago on MNF when he had his shoulder stepped on after a nice run?? We are at the point that Im not all that comfortable with that risk. Now I would like to see some better pocket presence, and that's usually something developed with time and confidence.
