"I recently informed Tua and his representation that we are going to move in a new direction at the quarterback position and will be releasing him after the start of the new league year," Sullivan said in a statement released by the team. "As I shared with Tua, I have great respect for the person and player he is. On behild of the Miami Dolphins, I expressed our gratitude for his many contributions, both on the field and in the community, during his six seasons in Miami."

Tua Tagovailoa's record dead money exit shows how badly Miami wanted out

A post-June 1 cut leaves the Dolphins with a $67.4 million dead cap hit in 2026 and another $31.8 million in 2027, an NFL record for any player.

The move ends Tagovailoa's six seasons in Miami only one year into the franchise-record extension he signed in 2024.

Since the Dolphins are starting over from scratch I think its fair that everyone here should start over. It is what it is. It's not going to be fun being the AFC East punching bag.

Personally, I don't have full confidence in the new regime coming in. It seems like Sullivan is just going to try tl mimic the Packers way of doing things and I have zero confidence in Jeff Hafley as a head coach. I honestly don't see them making it to 2028.

Fitzpatrick was traded to the Jets too for nothing. The next steps absolutely have to be trading Waddle and Achane and hopefully adding a couple of premium picks.

The play should be trading anyone with value. Playing Quinn Ewers at quarterback next season and praying you get the number one pick.

I will give them the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise.
And yes this will be a long season but sometimes you have to take a step back to take 2 forward into the future.

As much as I like Achane, he is a luxury player on a rebuilding team.. and we doing the long rebuild. Achane is the only player on the roster that can get you multiple firsts. Waddle is the only other player that can get you at least one first.. no one else on the roster can get you a high draft pick in a trade. I dont even know if theres anyone else on the roster that can get you a second round pick.

This is a team that needs so many players.. and needs to get lucky with first round picks that may turn into top 10 picks.. Im trading Achane and maybe even Waddle.

Good riddance. Take the pain in 2026 for better things in 2027. I'm happy about the Miami Dolphins today.

On to a successful draft. Now more than ever, with so many glaring needs, it makes sense to trade down if a blue chip isn't there to take. But if a building block player is there, they should take him

Still hoping Reuben Bain Jr has a photo leaked with him wearing a gas mask and a bong so that he drops to our pick

His alligator arms probably will drop him a bit. Not sure who I want us to draft yet.

By the way, he is going to almost sign with Atlanta immediately and that should make them the favorites to win the NFC North next year.

Weird that people here thought he might just go unsigned when he could get signed by end of day

They're going to be a trendy Super Bowl pick before the season starts.

If he's good enough to build a defense around I'm for it. I've heard good things until his arms were measured. It raises questions about him being a stud.

They are in the South which is the worst division in the league..
Actually perfect place for him.No cold weather in division where his arm will be exposed
