It's almost impossible. The Dolphins would have to be nearly flawless to win while scoring 18.9 points per game. They'd have to commit no turnovers, force turnovers from their opponents, score touchdowns instead of field goals and convert third downs into first downs on a regular basis.

The problem is the Dolphins are struggling to do anything about those concerns. That's why now, after 12 games, it's fair to question whether they have the talent on their roster to make such a change.

The Dolphins have no one that ranks among the league's top 10 in passing, rushing or receiving. It has two players in the top 20 — wide receiver Brian Hartline ranks 12th in receiving yards at 891, and Bush is 20th in rushing yards at 726. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill is the 31st-ranked quarterback with a passer rating of 72.3.

The inside linebackers in their 3-4 defensive scheme are Patrick Willis, who many regard as the best in the NFL, and NaVorro Bowman, whose 108 tackles rank fifth in the league. The outside linebackers are Aldon Smith, the NFL's sacks leader with 17.5, and Ahmad Brooks, ranked by ProFootballFocus.com as the third best in the league at his position.

Basically, the Dolphins and their low-scoring offense are in big trouble. They recognize their predicament and they're trying to address the situation.

I guess most of this falls on the growth and evaluation process of Tanne. Let's hope it pays off.
